In the USA alone a million. That’s serious ■■■■■

Damned if I agree with libs, damned if I disagree with libs, got it.

Nobody’s damning you.

There were crucial weeks were government entities ought to have been staying on top of this thing.

They didn’t. It was a failure.

Why is that so hard to admit?

Y’all enjoy falling over yourselves. I’m gonna go make soup.

:sunglasses:

The President has said that he always knew that this was going to be a pandemic.

If he did know, then why did he hesitate on getting the gears moving on the response until March?

He had over a month to put together a response team, alert private industry that more supplies would be needed in the future, start to move resources to likely hot spots, and coordinate with the States and the various government agencies a singular and rapid response?

He could have been doing all of this while keeping the public face that the virus would not be a big deal so as not to instill panic, but he said he knew it would be a pandemic.

Why did he sit on his hands?

No it isn’t. The government does not exist to protect and serve you Jay. You really need to get past that.

Probably the same reason congress did absolutly nothing during that time as well. From the article that was linked they had the SAME information as the president. Why didn’t they start to sound the alarm if the president didn’t? Why didn’t they start legislation to do things?

See, this is where the diffreence might be in thinking process.

I agree a healthy 25 year old probably has very little to worry about in terms of personal survival if exposed. Well unless they worry about being exposed and while asymptomatic infect their parents or grandparents, or maybe their sister or girlfriend that is immuno system suppressed because of cancer or other illness.

Ya, they might weather it OK, but there is still a lot for them to worry about.

My wife works at a University. What did they do AFTER the kids came back from spring break they kicked them out of the dorm. Where did the vast majority go? Home to their parents house.

React and incarcerate.

The President is the head of the executive branch and is in charge of all of the government agencies that would be used to respond to a health crises.

He says that he knew all along that it would be a pandemic.

Why make excuses?

I’m speaking of personal health concerns. If you’re at risk, get in the bubble.

I’ve never seen a POTUS and his supporters shift so much responsibility to so many groups.

It’s China’s fault
It’s Congress’ fault
Its WHOs fault
It’s the lib Media’s fault

10/10 I take no responsibility

So parents are to tell their college students that have been kicked out of the dorm not to come home?

Sure they are there to protect and serve us.

Defense is one of the mandated things in the Constitution.

It’s in the preamble.

It wasn’t the governments job to eradicate smallpox.

We should remember that.

This virus will absolutely not be a lethal concern to my family. It would be an inconvenience, maybe even a nuisance, but in the end, just like any other virus we’ve previously shared in this house.

As a Republican I have to give respect to Gov. Cuomo. He said (and I paraphrase), "We have to make some tough calls, if you don’t like it - be mad a me.)

That’s leadership.

Trump, said (and I paraphrase), “Don’t blame me.”

I agree the point about Congress has a whataboutism element to it, but at the same time, it also seems a legitimate point.

Well that’s pretty ridiculous. The government most definitely exists to serve and protect the people.

Risk reward. Weigh them, and make that decision based on individual goals. Perhaps they could stay with a friend with younger parents, or a sibling.
