I think I could (probably) have the virus. In the Seattle area reported this earlier near Kirkland. My company was letting us work three days of the week from home now after one person tested positive in the office they extended it to full time at home starting this week.

My neighbor who is one of the few people I have kept in contact with (in person) started feeling bad this morning his family went to the hospital and was tested positive for coronavirus his wife called me and said she and her kids were at the hospital waiting for their test results. They are the two people that I have been in their house a lot this past week watching movies, so I’m pretty sure I have it.

Damn man. I hope not. But either way, good luck. I’ll be praying for you.

Question regarding the value of testing.

I assume we are not going to be testing everyone in America every week. So the people who will be tested will basically be those who have symptoms.
Therefore the disease will continue to be spread by people who carry the virus but do not have the symptoms yet.
Just as flu is spread by people who have flu but do not yet show the symptoms.
If you have flu like symptoms you should not be going out in public, whether it is flu or corona.
So…how does testing stop the spread of the disease?

Because if someone has a cough how likely are they to isolate themselves? Now tell them they 100% have coronavirus, are they now more or less likely to isolate themselves?

It helps. It’s not a silver bullet, but it helps. Look to S.Korea.

The testing did not slow the spread in Korea, enforced isolation did.

It isn’t the virus the weather affects it’s the manner in which it is transmitted.

It’s primarily transmitted person to person in close contact environments. As it warms up people spend less and less time cooped up in enclosed spaces in close contact with other people.

The virus is also apparently not heat tolerant. Outside of the host organism where it replicates, it cannot live long in temperatures above the mid 70s. That surely will slow the transmission by casual contact with inanimate surfaces.

They initiated their first international travel restrictions on Feb 4 and have greatly expanded both international and in country restrictions since.

They still have far more cases and deaths than the US even with those measures and their widespread testing.
