Cop bodycams are so important. Columbia County, FL

Blind man walking with his stick in his back pocket. Cop shows up, finds out it’s a stick within 40 seconds.

@ 3:34 Officer Donut just makes up a charge of resisting arrest to put him jail. Did you see any resistance?

Bodycams need to be on, all the time. A 5 minute gap is long enough for this to happen without any accountability. Without a camera, this guy wouldn’t stand a chance against two cops lying on him while he goes broke in court.

Those two need to be fired.

They have no business being cops.

Just typical police who for whatever reason think the public have to be subservient to them.

I doubt anything will happen to these officers.

Too bad the call for police reform got derailed with “Defund the Police” being attached to any argument about that topic.

Yeah. That was a dumb slogan.

Agreed - idiotic idea about defunding police. The downside of social media is how a stupid idea got traction.

I’ll put in a vote for the walking guy starting the whole interaction on the wrong foot.

But once the cop knew he wasn’t carrying a gun, she could have ended it all right there.

We’ve become a contentious culture.

I am all for looking at police budgets and seeing if the money can be used more effectively elsewhere… but the notion of defunding completely is idiotic.

I disagree. I have never seen a walking stick look like a gun. Especially when it is not concealed.

He is under no obligation to be polite to the police.

You have a point but They are public servants. They should have the intelligence and skill to understand and defuse a situation.

They are choosing a profession that will have them interacting with the public and with that comes dealing with a lot of immediate hostility and a multitude of attitudes.

Hopefully this video gets a lot of traction.

Could this possibly be an incident where we are all in agreement?

We could’ve had real police reform by now, but libs instead decided to erect a statue of the biggest piece of ■■■■ they could find while calling everyone a racist in between burning innocent neighborhoods to the ground.

Good job, (D)ummies.

Totally agree.

Doesn’t mean he shouldn’t expect push-back for being impolite.

The “no obligation” argument is an example of my concluding statement earlier that we have become a contentious culture.

Don’t most jurisdictions have a thing where you have to provide I.D. if asked?

I can go with this.

Agreed. However once it was obvious that he was not in fact violating a law, then there is no longer a pretext for requiring an ID.

I can see that, BUT: isn’t this Ohio? Isn’t Ohio a constitutional carry state?

If so, this becomes even stickier

He is under no obligation to be polite, but the police are under the obligation to follow the law.

They chose to be in that job. He did not choose to be harassed for no reason.

The police had no reason for push back and could have ended the whole thing in seconds.

“Excuse me sir that looks like a gun”
“It’s a cane, you idiot”
“Oh you are right, My mistake. You have a good day”
