I know the difference. I’m saying the difference has no practical significance.

You can sit in the woods, 500 miles from the closest human being. To you, that’s “freedom”.

To me, that’s boring.

You don’t, but far be it from me to try an “win” and argument with a Devotee. :kissing_heart:

Between freedom and convenience? Are you insane?

Freedom is very rarely convenient. In fact it’s a huge pain in the ass. Even dangerous. Why do you think most people (The Collective) would rather have liberty?

“No practical difference…”

Mmmmmmmmm, so close…

In the sense that governments are a natural function of societies.

The difference between being subject to the law and being subject of the law is a matter of perspective. I am not ruled because I choose not to be.

If you have to ask this question, you’re still not understanding my point.

I have a more active social life in rural Maine than I do in the Heart of Brooklyn.

So… not true for everyone.

We are talking past each other. You are not understanding my point, and it is likely that I’m not understanding yours.

We all have a choice in these situations. We can attempt to learn the other side’s perspective, or embrace the ignorance as a chance to pat ourselves on the back

Which do you choose?

See my previous post (response to SixFoot).

I choose not to make it a point to get the last word in on the internet. I’m generous like that. :hugs:

If anyone else wants to discuss the differences, I’ll have to kindly ask that you know what the hell a convenience is compared to a freedom. lol

I am not surprised that you chose option 2.

Have a nice day. I hope your back doesn’t get sore.

Are they? Didn’t you say something earlier about “philosophical” and rights? You are ruled because you have accepted their rule. That’s what government means, to rule. To control. Do you support government healthcare?

I think I do.

A. Society
B. Government (mostly judicial branch)

GOVERNMENT

I saw it. You’re completely wrong.

Do you feel ruled? I don’t.

Then why did you ask?

What am I “wrong” about, exactly?

Because you accept it. You need it. And you need me ruled too.

I need you to understand it.

Come on counselor! That there is no practical difference between freedom and convenience.

You aren’t even trying anymore. Are you done?

Government exists here too.

There are town codes to adhere by, there are taxes to pay, there are all sorts of things.

The crazy thing about rural America is that more often than not, it increasingly relies on Federal and State tax dollars to be pumped into it.

All of those individualists are the beneficiaries of some sort of government largess whether they want to believe so or not.

Good for you. You should feel right at home.

You’re still not getting it.

I accept that the government exists. Do you attempt to deny that?

You first.
