I think it has to do with attempting to bring in more traffic to this site.

These flood of posts send user created posts to the back, therefore
conan could be right. A bot could have been set up to post stories here to promote discussion. But something went awry today.

Strange how a lot of these “bot posts” are not under a topic. One could probably weed them out by selecting a particular topic.
