What makes you feel you’ll get Norway instead of Venezuela?

For profit news media with an interest in dividing and stirring dissent would all but assure failure.

It’s a shame. We could be doing things so much better but we’re tripping over our own feet.

Yeah. But that’s all far to nuanced and results in too few enemies of freedom. The goal is to divide and yell. Team politics is very profitable.

It’s well past time for this country to seriously look into single payer healthcare.

And while we are at it. It’s time to tell big pharm to ■■■■ off. We are one of only three countries that allow advertisements for drugs on TV. Yet we allow them to charge us exponentially higher prices for the same drugs they sell in other countries. The free ride needs to end…like yesterday. :rage:

Easy. I’ve been told numerous times we just create an infinite number of new pies to pull from since the economy isn’t a zero sum game or something. Hell, we’ve already been doing it for the stock market for awhile now.

I’m not opposed to a discussion about it. If it ends up being cheaper and more effective, I’d support it.

But it would need to be a long discussion. With all the facts laid out on the table.

No back room deals anymore. Republicans and Democrats do that ■■■■ all the time. With something like single payer, the public needs to be involved too.

Yeah well, you’d have to get Big Pharma’s money out of politics first. Good luck with that.

In think in this country the only way it will happen is by having both systems simultaneously for a while.

Yep, which is why the ACA was dreamt up in the first place. It was supposed to be the first step towards transitioning.

I’m actually fine with that.

Put it on a ten year time table. You can opt in to the single payer system or remain on the purely private care system. At the end of the ten year period a NGO reviews the results from both programs. The one that scores highest in all categories is adopted as the primary care system.

That’s a fair way to do it.

I would be in favor of that. A slow transition away from employer tied healthcare would really help those looking to start their own business.

Healthcare should never had been tied to employment.

I know conservatives hate the ACA, but I’ve worked different jobs that didn’t offer healthcare, and having the marketplace has been amazing.

I’ll settle with Finland.

The differences in the history and constitutions of the two countries. A Juan Vicente Gomez would not happen under the US Constitution. Three coups, 10 years of military dictatorship, two attempted coups since the 1940’s. 26 constitutions, strong president with weak legislature and puppet high courts. Venezuela has been a mess since its independence, run by authoritarians. Oil didn’t change that, it furthered the problems it already had.

Complete & utter baloney. You are twisting the meaning of the preamble. Ridiculous.

They ARE already setting it up.

No, the type of socialism the left here has in mind is like China, maybe worse.

We already see what they are DOING TO us!

Naw, I was presented with baloney.
