Controversial Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez raised eyebrows on social media over the weekend; bizarrely asserting the US Senate is intentionally “designed” to over-represent rural America.

“It’s wild that this is still a talking point in a country where the electoral college regularly overrides the popular vote in elections, & the entire Senate is designed to overrepresent smaller, less populated areas over populated ones as a check on the House,” posted AOC on Twitter.

Ocasio-Cortez found herself in hot-water last year when she labeled the Electoral College a “racist scam.”

“Alright everyone, it’s been a minute, we’re coming to you live from the Electoral College… Many votes here as you can see. A very efficient way to choose leadership of the country. I can’t think of any other way, can you?” quipped Ocasio-Cortez on social media.

“Due to severe racial disparities in certain states, the Electoral College effectively weighs white voters over voters of color, as apposed to a ‘one person, one vote’ system where all our votes are counted equally,” she claimed.

“Could you image if we had this kind democracy-altering ‘fairness’ provision for literally any other group?” she asked. “If we weighed, for example, black and indigenous voters more because of unfairness?”
