Congressional candidate’s unredacted SF86 released to PAC

This is troubling. (SF86 is the questionnaire for national security positions - it’s a fairly exhaustive personal history). I went into an abundance of detail on my SF86 12 years ago that is certainly not the public’s business.

In this case, the Postal Circus didn’t even bother redacting Spanberger’s SSN and things related to medical history prior to releasing it to the PAC that issued the FOIA request.

  • On July 9, 2018 , America Rising Corp. submitted a FOIA request to the National Personnel Records Center “for access to certain records contained in the official civilian personnel file of former federal employee Abigail Spanberger. Specifically, this request seeks records reflecting Ms. Spanberger’s employment dates, annual salaries, title, and position description.”
  • By letter dated July 12, 2018 , NPRC/NARA forwarded the America Rising Corp. request to the United States Postal Service.
  • On July 30, 2018 , USPS responded to America Rising’s request with their complete personnel file (“entire official personnel folder”), which included Spanberger’s SF-86.

Spanberger’s statement:

The SF86 is the comprehensive document anyone seeking a security clearance must complete. It contains some of my most personal information including my Social Security Number and medical history. As a result of my SF86 filings, I obtained both Secret and Top Secret//SCI security clearances before dutifully serving my country as a federal agent and then a CIA case officer.
