Very true, the training asserts itself and the actions quickly become automatic again with just a few dedicated sessions at the range. It is a drilled skill set.

Honestly it didn’t even take that. The truth is you learn to shoot dry firing, you confirm it live.

No argument from me there. Confirmation is the objective, you shouldn’t carry if you haven’t confirmed your tools are sharp, from drawing, to engaging, to reloading at combat speed.

My criteria is, you shouldn’t carry unless you are fairly certain of your skills. I am not; therefore, I do not.

I can respect that. To carry is a free will choice. I didn’t feel the need to carry for a long time, but the “temperature of the water” made me reassess that decision. I took my old drills seriously, made sure that it was a part of my hand again and that my motions were deliberate, precise and executed consistently at full combat speed again.

I also live where one’s habits and behavior have far more to do whether someone might try to harm you than a lot of you do. For a lot of you guys, carrying a CW is akin to me carrying a rifle (or at least my 44) in bear country.

Sadly true, one never knows when one will encounter a 2 legged wild animal.

Let’s see…school gun free zone laws increase violence in shopping malls.

I’m somehow not seeing the connection. Help me here.

As active shooters ignore all gun free zone designations, it doesn’t inhibit an active shooter in any way. It does decrease the chance that an armed private citizen will be present, with the means to effectively engage the active shooter, who is now targeting innocent people who happen to be in said “gun free” zone. As the active shooter is a thinking and assessing human being, the knowledge that a location is less likely to have someone present who can shoot back makes a so called “gun free” zone a more attractive location to find victims.

Ignore them? They are attracted by them.

I have to concede that Concealed Carry does increase dangers…to criminals intent on mayhem towards unarmed citizens. :grinning:

So how does a school gun free zone affect shopping malls?

Just trying to figure out this pretzel is all.

It’s not hard to understand. Just focus on the key words … “gun free zone.”

No, you are trying to twist a pretzel. Each “so called” gun free zone is its own worst enemy. It doesn’t matter What the venue is. The signs declaring it are a giant advertisement to a criminal, or a crazy, that easy prey can be found here. You want to mitigate that provide substantial armed security, because the designation by itself means nothing. But you know that.

You added “school”.

You should go back and read the OP.

His articles are talking about shopping malls, and he throws in comments about school gun free zones.

While I agree gun free zones make those particular targets more inviting, I fail to see a connection between the school gun free zone act, and violence at shopping malls.

Just a head scratcher.

Attention… The guy at the mall lost his job, was about to get evicted, but he was going to go out in a blaze of glory as a mass shooter. Then some damn goodie two shoes caps his ass at over 100 ft with a hand gun. Now that guy is getting all the attention and our would be famous villain is dead, and already yesterday’s news.

That shooter at the school was also out for attention and out to make himself famous.

Do you get it now?

Australia made their country a gun free zone. Yet it took a gun to stop it.
