“HOUSE REPUBLICANS SHOULD PASS THE STRONG BUT FAIR IMMIGRATION BILL, KNOWN AS GOODLATTE II, IN THEIR AFTERNOON VOTE TODAY, EVEN THOUGH THE DEMS WON’T LET IT PASS IN THE SENATE.”
The Kennedy retirement will overshadow this. But this is just further proof of the GOP’s complete and total inability to get anything at all accomplished legislatively. This is the House, where they do not need one single Democratic vote, and they cannot even pass a “compromise” bill that was negotiated by the different wings of their own party. And in the Senate, they have voted on 1…I repeat 1…amendment this entire year.
And what of the Republicans who voted against this? You do know in the House of Representatives it is a simple majority that is required to pass bills, right? And the Republicans hold a substantial majority. This is firmly and squarely on them and them alone. Trying to blame the Democrats, who were not involved in a single word of this legislation is silly.
And Hillary supporters have a very twisted idea of how to win an election. Which is why they nominated the worst candidate in American history. Let that sink in.
Their seeming lack of understanding basic civics, coupled with their inherent victimization, leads them to this conclusion every single time. It’s almost formulaic.
The frustrating thing is the degree to which they’ve walled themselves off to any sort of input from anyone else. The victimization is so strong that any attempt to disagree is taken as a personal insult.
That is a very good point. It is as if they have to insulate themselves from any sort of critical thought. Anything that requires introspection at all. Like an emotional safety net they have developed for themselves, to avoid risking the thought of being wrong. Which as humans, is a terrible thing, because we are all sometimes wrong, many times over. And that is okay.
