“HOUSE REPUBLICANS SHOULD PASS THE STRONG BUT FAIR IMMIGRATION BILL, KNOWN AS GOODLATTE II, IN THEIR AFTERNOON VOTE TODAY, EVEN THOUGH THE DEMS WON’T LET IT PASS IN THE SENATE.”

LOL it was close 302 Nay 102 Yay.

The Kennedy retirement will overshadow this. But this is just further proof of the GOP’s complete and total inability to get anything at all accomplished legislatively. This is the House, where they do not need one single Democratic vote, and they cannot even pass a “compromise” bill that was negotiated by the different wings of their own party. And in the Senate, they have voted on 1…I repeat 1…amendment this entire year. :flushed:

Not one single democrat voted to support those DACA children…not one single one of em.

Once again democrats are playing minorities in this country for their own selfish reasons.

And what of the Republicans who voted against this? You do know in the House of Representatives it is a simple majority that is required to pass bills, right? And the Republicans hold a substantial majority. This is firmly and squarely on them and them alone. Trying to blame the Democrats, who were not involved in a single word of this legislation is silly.

I bet you a nickel he just repeats the same thing over and over again to every response. I think he repeated himself 3-4 times in the other thread.

Trump supporters have a very twisted idea of how legislation works.

Typical republicanism. So why do you libs dislike republicans so much? They are pretty much on your team on nearly every major issue.

Democrats tried to support DACA back in February [1]. The President torpedoed the whole process.

And Hillary supporters have a very twisted idea of how to win an election. Which is why they nominated the worst candidate in American history. Let that sink in.

Really? This is a pathetic response.

I know right? That really stings. Especially considering how much you typically love the replies of conservatives.:persevere:

Republicans slap a pie in their own faces, aka just another day in Trump DC.

Don’t be a troll.

Lol. In how soon the r,s forget 54-45

The way the senate is compromised now and in the near future.

Nothing on immigration will pass for the president,s signature before 2021, if trump loses or 2025, if trump wins.

Dems in the senate held their nose and voted for the wall, and got stonewalled by trump who needs this as a campaign issue.

You need a history lesson.

The worst major political nominee…Clinton.

Not even close.

Buchanan in 1956 and trump in 2018 we far worse. Oh and George McGovern in 1972.

Their seeming lack of understanding basic civics, coupled with their inherent victimization, leads them to this conclusion every single time. It’s almost formulaic.

Don’t be fool.

Lol it’s the guys you agree with who keep derailing these bills. The hardliners.

The frustrating thing is the degree to which they’ve walled themselves off to any sort of input from anyone else. The victimization is so strong that any attempt to disagree is taken as a personal insult.

That is a very good point. It is as if they have to insulate themselves from any sort of critical thought. Anything that requires introspection at all. Like an emotional safety net they have developed for themselves, to avoid risking the thought of being wrong. Which as humans, is a terrible thing, because we are all sometimes wrong, many times over. And that is okay.
