Comprehensive immigration reform

He already turned down the $20B for Wall in exchange for DACA the Democrats offered him last year. Just goes to show how incredibly stupid Donny is.

Its not about a wall, its about getting Trump. Only public opinion and one side or the other seeing they will be the ones damaged can end this fight over relatively little.

Democrats would not go for the deal because it included an end to chain migration. That would potentially have reduced legal immigration to the rate it was during Clinton’s term and they couldn’t accept that.
Trump actually offered amnesty to more than those included in DACA.

Fascinating how this keeps getting proved inaccurate over and over and over and over, and yet it still persist as a talking point and revision of history.

There was an actual vote in the Senate. 54 bipartisan votes in favor of DACA for wall funding deal. It would have received 60 had Mr. Trump not threatened to veto it if it passed, which scared away some of the GOP Senators. Trump threw away his only and best shot at full funding for this stupid wall.

Of course Trump said he would veto a wall for DACA deal. That would not be acceptable.
What I listed was the deal that Trump was willing to make. Extend amnesty beyond DACA and comprehensive immigration reform to end chain migration as well as a wall.

Nothing inaccurate in that at all.

"The administration Thursday night proposed giving 1.8 million undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children a path to citizenship in exchange for drastically reducing family-based migration, a $25 billion trust fund for a border wall, stepped-up security at ports of entry, and stricter internal enforcement.

The framework is, in effect, a bottom line for the president, "

The point this derived from was that Trump agreed to a wall for DACA deal. And then he, not Schumer and Pelosi, backed out and reneged.

DACA can pass on it’s own. It’s not like Trump would be giving up something

And when you build your monument to Trump, and nothing changes, what will you do?

Or the Dems could agree to the wall on its own. Its not like the Dems would be giving up something.

They probably would vote for a wall where needed but I don’t know of any proposal that defines that

We fell for the democrats telling that lie in the 80’s. They said let us legalize everyone here and we’ll build a wall. Well they got what they wanted and laughed as they refused to fund the wall.

They laughed at you again when your recent republican supermajority failed to build the wall.

Your party is wasting its political capital on a border fence.

They really dont have any good faith political credit left

Are you talking about the same wall Reagan said he didnt want built?

I will then examine what has changed in the equation and address what needs to be addressed next.

Dems don’t want a wall, so agreeing to it would be giving up something they don’t want.

Supposedly Trump wants the Dream act passed which is obviously a lie.

  1. Build the “wall” in strategic areas where it make sense.

  2. Repair and update existing barriers.

  3. Actually enforce immigration law re: employers employing illegals. Strengthen penalties.

  4. Invest in e-verify.

The above shouldn’t be something either side objects to.

Well that is just not true at all. Please stop revising history. There was no wall for amnesty deal under Reagan. Lol

Obviously, Trump does not want the dream act passed by itself. As Obama once claimed, you need to treat immigration reform in a comprehensive manner.
A dream act by itself is just a flat out amnesty and an invitation to more illegals.
