I think we’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg with the Colorado Springs nightclub raid.
The venue isn’t really a nightclub. It’s an events center for things like wedding receptions and bar mitzvahs. But as of late, it has been booked repeatedly and serially under different names and become the “underground nightclub” the media are reporting.
This wasn’t a one-time event. And over the course of the past few YEARS more than 100 calls to 911 were recorded about gang activity there. The government under the Biden Administration turned a blind eye. (And by Colorado law, Colorado Springs police cannot assist or coordinate with federal agencies to address illegal immigrant activity.)
Now, a months-long investigation under the Trump administration culminated in this raid.
Unlike the ICE raid in Aurora that was leaked to the gangs, fortunately this one was not compromised.
Bits of discussion about this raid are scattered among various threads. I think it deserves a thread of its own.
"The El Paso County Democratic Party is expressly concerned about the public statements released by Mayor Yemi Mobolade and the El Paso County Board of Commissioners regarding the joint ICE raid in our community this weekend. City and county leadership failed their constituents by refusing to call for restraint, compassion, or due process for the very residents they represent. At a time when U.S. residents are being wrongly detained by ICE and subjected to brutal prison conditions in countries like El Salvador, it is especially shocking to see our city and county governments provide cover for rogue police forces by publicly praising them. Instead of standing up for the rights and dignity of the very residents they were elected to serve—including citizens who may have voted for them—they chose silence and complicity. Residents, including U.S. citizens, are at real risk of wrongful detention, deportation, and imprisonment—or worse. Their failure to act demands condemnation.
We stand in solidarity with local and state immigration rights groups who have called attention to these abuses and who continue to fight for human dignity, constitutional rights, and true public safety for all members of our community. The El Paso County Democratic Party is currently engaged in consultations to determine how we can best support ongoing legal efforts to defend due process and protect the rights and safety of all our residents."
This news article came and went without much notice. I suspect that much ammo was being hauled to supply the “soldiers” guarding the various illegal cannabis growing operations in rural Colorado.
That line from the overall tone-deaf statement the ElPaso County Dems put out stands out for me. The “nightclub” was an ongoing event of gang activity, drugs, weapons, prostitution. It wasn’t like the corner bar where passers by might stop in for a shot and a beer. People who went there knew what was there. A person had to know it even existed to go there.
As the saying goes, if you sleep with dogs, you wake up with fleas. I have no compassion whatsoever for anyone caught up in the raid. (Most especially the military personnel!)
It’s absolutely deliberate and insulting to legal immigrants like my father and grandfather, it’s disgusting and typical for leftists, legacy media, and Democrat pols.
lol. ICE has deported 57,000 since trump took office.
“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which is required by Congress to publicly share detention and deportation information every two weeks, has reported removing less than half that number, roughly 57,000 people.”
You can’t even define an immigrant. These are illegal aliens who don’t give a rat’s rear about our laws and they’re actions PROVE this. I want them ALL gone and if they fight in any way, they should NEVER have a legal chance to enter. Do it legally or be punished by the law that you broke and it appears you forgot the lib mantra, “no one is above the law”. Now practice what you preach.
I think a lot of it comes down to ideology. The left generally views borders as anachronisms that facilitate the oppression of the world’s workers. It’s dumb but that’s what I honestly think.
