Yes it does make sense. Decades of following politics states the campaign that is trailing and needs to land some momentum shifting blow is ALWAYS the one that requests more debates. It’s happened for literal decades of my following politics. It’s happening right now in the AL Senate race between Sessions and Tuberville.

Biden has agreed to three debates. National and State polling has Biden dramatically ahead of Trump. Even in must-win states for Trump. This is not 2016. The GOP is beginning to admit the possibility of a complete rout in November. The Trump campaign is asking for more than the 3 debates Biden has agreed to.

This is telling for anyone who understands politics. His campaign knows they are losing. It could change between now and November. Trump could still win. But right now they know they’re losing.
