Teachers don’t make that bad nor RN’s either I would dare say. Will they get rich? No but they shouldn’t be poor either.
No it doesn’t. We have been over this before. I’ve given my own “testimony” about where I and my family started from. Ottoman slaves until the early 20th century. Virtually no education. No “accumulated wealth” .
Thank God Democrats didn’t see us as a potential voting block, giving us free stuff and stripping us of our need to work.
Lots of people make lots of mistake. Sometimes it ruins their lives and sometimes it doesn’t. There’s a lot of luck involved.
Dude i went from being an immigrant on welfare to being pretty successful.
That’s anecdotes not data.
Shouldn’t be… we are not talking about just poor people. You guys are misunderstanding the point.
Thank god you didn’t have some jackass in charge trying to keep out people from ■■■■■■■■ countries without money or skills like your family.
Anecdotes are the data points within the data.
My family came legally.
i’d say a whole lot of people here have made bad choices/decisions and don’t have nearly the amount of money they should have. we’ve had a number of unemployed people post here. construction guys. plumbers. painters. carpenters.
they obviously didn’t give the extra 937% EFFORT that the CEOs did.
Some luck but not a lot. Planning goes a long way. For example when my wife and I got married we postponed kids until we paid off our 1st house. 7 and a half years later.
Put us in much better shape really for the rest of our life. Some get married, immediately have a house full of kids, new house, new cars, and there they are behind the 8 ball for many many years.
Of course but they are individual data points and are not reflective of anything other than the data they produce.
Everyone being a CEO is an unrealistic expectation.
Welcome to the universe.
Behind your comment is the essence of progressive liberalism. The universe as it exists has what appears to be randomness. Progressive Liberalism sees this as an injustice and proposes to fix this defect in the universe. Progressive Liberals see themselves as God2.0 … a better God, more fair, more compassionate than God1.0
You have an astonishing ability of making an excellent point and then stomping on it with your preconcieved notions
Lucky that they didn’t have to deal with people trying to prevent legal immigration for people like your family.
Tell that to the posters above who think people are only poor because they deserve to be.
“The effort gap” is overwhelmed by the “luck gap”.
Not everything can be planned for. Health issues. Family deaths. Catastrophes. Hell, just being born in the wrong zip code. The biggest predictor m of a person’s wealth is their parents.
Bad health would indeed be bad luck. I dare say that isn’t the majority problem but rather bad choices in life instead.
I’ll say this again because it’s worth repeating.
The biggest predictor of a person’s wealth is their parent’s wealth.
As is the extra 937% effort they give for their 937% pay increase.
