Well, years and years of climate deadlines where “We are at the point of no return!” or “There will be in ice on the Arctic!” or “In 8 years!”, “In 10 years!”. “In 20 years!”, and “In 30 years!” we are DOOMED! DOOMED I tell ya’!
None of which happens or even came close.
Every single time the solution was to give up your lifestyle, prosperity, and freedoms and impose Socialism slavery.
I was reading the latest issue of Notre Dame Magazine. It focuses on what the current college generation is facing/feeling/trying… A significant portion of the content is essays from current students or recent grads. Some are quite interesting. Some are troubling.
One essay started with this:
You have eight years. Good luck… My biology professor’s words blindsided me. Was it true my generation has eight years to find a solution to climate change?..
The essay discusses what one person can (not) do. What one person’s role could be. Etc.
It ended with this:
When my professor wished us good luck, we had eight years… As I write this, we have seven.
Even Notre Dame has succumbed. (I knew that already. This is just an example of that.)
What’s more, most of scientists who appear in the document have not been formally educated in the field of climate or meteorology. Rather, according to the document by Clintel, there are numerous engineers, biologists, chemists or physicists – signatories also include a commercial fisherman, a cardiologist, an air conditioning engineer and numerous retired geologists. There is also a Nobel laureate in Physics, Ivar Giaever, who received the award in the 1970s for his contributions to knowledge on the superconductivity of materials, which is unrelated to climate studies.
The campaign is coordinated by a Netherlands-based climate science denial group called the Climate Intelligence Foundation, aka Clintel, founded by a gentleman named Guus Berkhout. He formerly worked at Shell Oil and later created the Delphi Consortium to work on new ways to extract oil and gas.
This reminds me of the discussions I had with Soviet defectors about what they were told about life in the West. They were fed a stream of propaganda about how their nation and communism led to the best standard of living for the common man. Upon escaping to the West and seeing how people lived in the West it often shook them to their very cores. When the lie behind a hoax becomes undeniable, those fooled tend to go through a semblance of the stages of grief as the truth forces its way into their consciousness. Soviet Propaganda one had been fed her whole life had conditioned her to believe the propaganda. Learning the truth and how it manifested itself in new defectors as they learned the truth was difficult to watch. The Soviets fed their people a steady stream of garbage about how their citizens had the very best standard of living for the common man. That only the wealthy oppressor class in the West lived well and always at the expense of the average citizen. Seeing how the average citizen lived in the West exposed the lie and led to significant emotional distress and feelings of betrayal by their nation’s leaders. Many of today’s youth are in for the same sense of betrayal and distress in self reflection.
