Of course it was groupthink, but it was groupthink with a goal of keeping the group exclusive white, male, Anglo-Saxon, Protestants, Ivy League. It seems it had a lot to do with race. Race imparts culture and that’s key part of what the article was talking about. It’s also the thing you cant get by just sending some white, male, Anglo-Saxon, Protestants to the Defense Language Institute to turn out a bunch of ‘‘Arab’’ speakers.
