Unfortunately, yes. It’s one of the first things we taught our daughters when they started becoming interested in news, and it was not difficult. At some risk of demeaning myself, any dumbass can do it lol.

It’s very hard. It goes against human nature.

That was not my experience at all, though I should credit my own parents for teaching me the same thing. I had a good foundation to work from .

Of course, and I don’t deny human nature. Back in the late sixties early seventies there was a popular bumper sticker slogan that still appears from time to time, Question Everything. It is a way of life that once instilled, becomes more or less automatic. One can’t help but be influenced by personal biases, I don’t mean to say otherwise.

To me, it is intellectually lazy to just make a blanket assertion that the media has set themselves up as the harbingers of truth while printing and repeating any and all unverified “facts” they’re fed by their political masters ad nauseam.

They don’t print every tidbit of gossip they hear. They have journalistic standards that they abide by.

The whole harbinger of truth stuff sounds like a drumbeat from Limbaugh or the like over the last 20 years.
