Or maybe it isn’t.
You can’t make HCQ work just because you want it to work…or even because you need it to.
It either works or it doesn’t.

With drug discovery and development?
I’m actually a big believer that for all our science and technology, drug development is a crap shoot.
I could make a mathematical case for it.

More that we don’t know as much as we think we know than fate.
There’s no doubt that if you load up enough HCQ in a test tube it will inhibit the virus.
From there to a drug that actually does that in humans is a whole bunch of steps and decision points…many of which don’t correlate to the final decision point (the drug works in humans).

And even if it is fate, determining the drug actually works is still something that can be reasonably quantified.
Unless of course you believe the placebo effect is stronger than it actually is…
why didn’t you finish the sentence?
oh wait… I know why
Some European county has suspended trials of chloroquine because of serious adverse side effects.

He then added the paragraph that specifically stated the drugs could be given to COVID patients in the hopsital.
Outpatient prescriptions as a prophylactic or even as treatment are still prohibited…and they should be.
That’s what started the whole thing…certain doctors were hoarding the medicines, prescribing it for themselves, family, friends and coworkers.
This is a highly frowned upon practice…and it should be.

Except as has been pointed out to you…you are wrong.
not in ny.
cuomo’s order specifically approves them only for use in state clinical trials and fda approved uses for auto immune and malaria treatments.

Sotto Voce posted the paragraph explicitly showing this was not true.
The [medication] may only be used to treat adult and adolescent patients who weigh 50 kg or more hospitalized with COVID-19 for whom a clinical trial is not available, or participation is not feasible.
And Florida Yankee showed NY is doing a massive observational clinical trial as well.
You’re wrong. It’s OK to admit it.
no, you are wrong. what sotto showed is the fda approved them outside of clinical trials. cuomo’s order does not. they are two different things.
yes, there is a huge clinical trial in ny. no, outside of clinical trials hcq cannot be used to treat covid in ny.

Cuomo amended his order March 27 to comply with this paragraph that came out the following day.
Trust me…I know first line heath care workers in New York. They can give this drug as in patient treatment.
And they are doing so.
I know you guys want to make this about politics. It’s what you do…and it feeds your storyline that there are Trump haters that want the pandemic to drag on and so are withholding these drugs in order to do that.
That’s stupid on two levels:
*It’s not happening
*There’s no definitive evidence they will do anything to stop or shorten the pandemic.
I do get how the CEC will spin it though.

i’ve never even hinted that anyone was blocking their use for politics and have no idea what the cec even is. except it seems to be some leftist conspiracy theory.
post the ammended order. cause all i see is the original, and this
"Cuomo announced Sunday that the drug trials will begin Tuesday. The Food and Drug Administration will send 750,000 doses of chloroquine, 75,000 doses of hydroxychloroquine and 10,000 doses of Zithromax. "
from march 22nd
