If a Physician wants to educate people about potential therapies it is a rare thing they stand in the middle of a square with a bullhorn. Call it what you will.

What’s a real shame, is that she had to do that to get her message out? She explains that there are many forces working against allowing her to “educate people about potential therapies”? Now I don’t care how you choose to spin that but…if that’s true, that’s creepy. Forces working against the health of mankind for reasons this force commands to be more important? What could possibly more important to the medical field, than the health of the patient and what forces are at work?

If you think that physicians are conspiring to keep a potentially helpful drug away from patients because, what, they don’t like Trump? Then I don’t know how I can address your post. That is patently ridiculous on its face.

The NIH has just launched a randomized controlled double blind trial with HCQ in mildly diseased patients, it is enrolling thousands of patients and we should see results this summer. Henry Ford Hospital here in Michigan initiated a trial last month to see if HCQ could prevent transmission in people at risk, such as Hospital staff or public transit workers.

The reason Remdesuvir is indicated is because of an NIH trial, they do it fast and they do it well. We will see the results very soon and I pray HCQ provides benefit. But, until then, we have documented risk with no proof of efficacy, it is not standard of care and that is what we need.

Of course not. But there are significant risks with this med, if it works then it is worth it. If it does not, then it is not worth it. If it were a safer drug, I think usage would be much higher.

Fair assessment. And I will agree the President should have been more cautious in his optimism. In fact, I would prefer he be more generic. “They are studying any and all medications that may show promise” instead of even trying to mention specific names.

He was trying to offer hope while hoping himself. He does better when he stays out of details. He should let experts handle specifics.

This is above a physician. I don’t for one second believe that a doctor, would place his/her politics…over the well being of their patient. I also realize that there are many more forces potentially involved than physicians when it comes to approved medical treatment.

Except…non-professionals that are labeled journalists were 1000% attempting to panic our nation and remove all hope, while President Trump on the other hand, was doing his best to settle the nerves of those that were actually scared.

Comforting people is a good thing, offering half truths and misinformation is another. People are going to glom onto this because they are scared. That is why that couple ate fish tank cleaner. Granted they are too dumb to live, but dumb and scared is a bad combination.

While I hope all this love for HCQ is out of hope and not fidelity to DJT, I am somewhat suspect here. Remdesuvir has actually been approved for COVID, the NIH and FDA did a great job. This opens up a path for future drugs to add onto this success and perhaps offer better and better treatments.

But where is the love from the Right for this, if they want to offer hope? Nowhere. They are still sticking with HCQ, which to this point does not have the same level of evidence. Why? Is it because this is DJT’s favorite option? That if this winds up being the drug to make a difference it will ultimately help him and his chances in November because he was right all along?

I hope that isn’t the case, but from what I have seen here it seems awfully suspect. My POV is simple, we have studies underway and if HCQ is proven to be all the Right says it is, you will find no one happier to say DJT was right than me. Because I want real options for this and I feel there is something sitting on a shelf right now that can make a difference, we just have to find it.
