China Tells US to withdraw Troops from Taiwan. Did they learn something from Crimea?

And the fault of DJT

The other choice is them taking Taiwan without firing a shot through continuous aggression and changing laws, replacing government figures etc. They are taking it, one way or another, that’s becoming clearer by the day.

Just because I didn’t comment on the other points you raised is meaningless. I’m not diverting or ignoring anything, I just didn’t say what you wanted to hear.

Of course the ■■■■■■ up withdrawal is a big factor and more. Excuse me for not copying your talking points lol.

Their orange insanity left them with no other course.

If you say so…

I was wondering about that too.

But then the article goes on to mention a 2005 incident where a sub ran into a mountain.

You said so.

Right of course it has to be something China planted because as we all know we have charted every single object under the sea…

No I didn’t. I said that the presence of American troops escalates the situation if China attacks Taiwan.

Sure, sure.

What do you think this J’Biden clown show response would be to this “escalation”?

Give the CHICOMS Apaches and drones?

Or perhaps the Pacific Fleet?

Okay, so the proposed scenario is that China attacks Taiwan, and American military personnel are killed?

All options are bad, but I doubt Biden would go to war.

Seems unlikely. I suspect Taiwan would put up a real fight.

For a day or two.

Didn’t J’Biden say the same thing about the Afghan Security Forces?

Big difference is that I suspect the Taiwanese would actually be up for it. They have been living under threat for decades, and they really have advanced equipment, unlike what the Afghans had.

Amazing everybody ready to abandon Taiwan because China is threatening, let them have it apparently is the consensus. 70 year old ally, even if we signed on to the one China policy, in the past, China attacking Taiwan was off limits. Japan sees its life is at stake. Taiwan’s people have seen us as an ally. This government was formed after getting defeated by Mao, but has has seen us an ally for a long time against the Communist dictatorship. These people were formed to fight the communists and they will fight against China, unlike the ununified Afghan governement which had warlords & such. There would be death and lots of it. To abandon them means we abandon everybody. Japan government official said, deputy prime minister :
Japan deputy PM comment on defending Taiwan if invaded angers China | Reuters

“If a major incident occurs in Taiwan, it’s not at all unusual to consider it an existential threat [to Japan],” the senior official was quoted as saying. “In such a case, Japan and the United States will have to work together to defend Taiwan.”

Observers have noted the finesse with which Japanese officials conduct diplomacy, including their careful use of words. The deputy PM’s description of an “existential threat” is a choice phrase required to trigger the relevant self-defense clauses in Japan’s otherwise pacifist constitution.

Now China says that if Japan gets involved they will issue nonstop nuclear bombing of Japan:

So I guess we’d abandon Japan too? Hey don’t want to get involved. Should we just ask China to let us get all our troops out before they start nuclear bombing Japan? China has conflicts with the Philippines as well, over islands, the Phillipines are worried about the implications of letting Taiwan getting taken over.

Not willing to say that we will defend this country leads to abandoning every ally we have and ironically will lead to more death and war. And makes China the world power and we as untrustworthy and we become isolationists. What ally would trust us again? I guess people don’t care, let us just cut all our defense spending so we can become a nice ‘Democratic Socialist’ country and have the government provide child care for all, medicare for all, eliminating private insurance which is the whole reason medicare patients can actually function, including health care for all the illegals to come in. I guess that is the priority?

Our relationship with Taiwan is not like our relationships with Afghanistan or Iraq. (I suppose it could turn into that though.)

I take your point, and I don’t like it either.
In fact, I think it sucks. But war with China would be catastrophic.

Also, please note that we don’t have a defensive alliance with Taiwan. That is entirely different from our alliance with Japan.
