Bio weapons would do it. Cheap & quick, the right one, you would only need a little I figure, & a quarantine…
Meh.
Unlike Taiwan, Australia is an American ally. All out war ain’t gonna happen right now.
Now something like a sustained cyber attack. That I could see.

I think if china keeps up the aggression, it will cause much of the world to stop going there to set up anything. India can do it for the same price…& they don’t want to take over…
We can hope. It’s gonna take a while for countries to disentangle though.

I will never understand why we can’t just do more business with those who mean us no harm than to enrich those who want to dominate the world?
There’s plenty places that we can go for everything we get from china, India alone can take that on.
South America is closer & it would cost less to ship.

Keep 40 to 50 percentage domestic production for essentials.
Jump start process with tariffs on China goods.
Biden is already QUIETLY rolling those back. Wrong move.

True, but it may still happen. Let smallpox get out into China…mercy, I would feel sorry for them at that point. Talk about quarantines…it would be real quarantines then…

Project weakness & bowing down…that will result in wars.
Not so quiet… some R big hitters in on it too:
https://www.ronjohnson.senate.gov/2021/6/senator-johnson-and-colleagues-call-on-president-biden-to-end-self-inflicted-harm-from-tariffs
I was under the impression the China tariffs are still in place. Any links to tariffs that have been removed?

There are some in the process of going away.
The CCP trade tentacles are long.
We are even more dependent on global supply than before the pandemic. Learned nothing.

It’s hard to tell if these are “new” exclusions or just a push to re-activate the exclusions that were in place from the phase 1 deal and expired in 2020. Or a mix of old and new exclusions.
If they are the same or similar exclusions, then the Biden tariff situation will be the same as the Trump tariff situation. In the meantime, the current tariff load is actually higher.
Not an endorsement of Biden, just sussing out the true situation. It does not help to pin this on D when R, D and who knows else is the instigator.
Looks to me like business forces were able to get exclusions under Trump, lost them in 2020 and are hot to get them back and probably expand them.
The Ron Johnson letter is an indication how deep those forces run. Open public appeal to reverse the tariffs.
Here is another article that mentions the expired exclusions:
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/10/07/joe-biden-tariff-exemptions-made-in-china-products/
Such tariff exclusions for some corporations with Chinese-made products expired in January after the Trump administration issued a number of exemptions, including for products like the Apple Watch and thousands of other products made in China.
We are addicted to China as a supplier and not yet willing to absorb the economic disruption of aggressive measures. Gonna be an interesting decade ahead.
Used to be in the lead on producing those things, can and should be doing so again.

Yes, & we are funding our own demise by funding their war machine.
I think these discussions ignore the human side of the equation. The Chinese people on the mainland see the Chinese people on the island as … Chinese people . And vice versa. They don’t want them killed, vaporized, or ruined. They work together even though separated by politics. The mainland generals will rattle their swords but would never be forgiven if they use them against the people of Taiwan.
I think the bigger threat from mainland is sedition and espionage aimed at undermining the confidence that the people have in their government.

Chinese have friends and relatives in opposing countries. And business partners have interests on both sides of the straits. The Chinese Communist Party will invade humanely

They don’t hesitate to run over their own unarmed citizens, including college students, with tanks.
