Is being closed on Sundays pandering to the religious right?
When they wade into the same sex marriage debate, was that pandering?

My my my. This is a betrayal, isn’t it.

I’m loving it.

Good for this guy.

So now you are moving the goalposts. Not sure what that has to do with “force” or are you going to make some convoluted argument to connect the two?

If the owner wanted to press charges thats up to him. If anyone was arrested for trespassing then that will be dealt with by the courts.

Yes- it’s one of those laws that the policing system blows up into excuses to pull people aside.

Like “blocking pedestrian traffic”.

Any major change in our country has always…always…had an element of what we are seeing now.

Worker conditions- there were riots along with peaceful protests
Civil rights- there were riots along with peaceful protests
And now policing issues- there are riots along with peaceful protests

And my guess there was always this group of people who tried to dismiss and diminish the things people were angry about with complaints that law and order was being disrupted.

Again I believe it’s a matter of focus…in my opinion, the Law and Order people focus on the wrong thing.

They say “It’s a shame innocent people are being killed by the police, but the riots have to stop”.

Those who realize there are huge problems that need to be addressed see it this way:

“It’s a shame there are riots, but the killing of innocent people has to stop”.

In my mind, the latter keeps the focus on the problem…the former focuses on “getting back to normal” as fast as possible and as such they communicate, intended or not, that the problems that led to the riots aren’t important.

Hell this whole thread is a reflection of that. No one yet has been able to pinpoint just why they think the CEO is “pandering”. The only conclusion I can come to, absent more specific feedback, is that they don’t believe Mr. Cathy believes the problems are serious, and he’s only “caving” because of the violence.

As if the violence itself invalidates the seriousness of the problems…or they don’t believe the problems are all that serious and that the violence is unwarranted.

I’m asking these people to help me understand this.

If you leave your door unlocked and a stranger enters your home. When you tell him to leave and he refuses, that’s criminal trespass.
Would you not want the police to take the person aside?
I don’t care what you say here, I know that you would.

Actions speak louder than words. At least that is what a Trump supporters preach when Trump sticks his foot in his mouth.

Sounds you have a problem with servant leadership. Which is a very Christian thing. Hmm

The second phrase sounds like “oh it’s too bad there are riots. Just an unfortunate thing that will come to an end eventually when the killing of the innocents stops.” Like they’re inevitable and aren’t that serious. But they’re not an issue at all. Just let them run their course and people will get insurance money and rebuild and it will be like they never even happened.

Showing some human decency is caving to some apparently. Explains why the unfettered support for Trump I guess.

exactly. every article written by pathetic “journalists” rushes to make clear protests were “peaceful” but they are anything but

ah so you really arent impressed with his actions after all

you just want to revel in what you think is a “betrayal” lol

thanks for finally stating what you really think

funny how trump keeps seeping back into the conversation isnt it?

no thats part of their christian beliefs, and is not in response to their stores being vandalized by christians for being open on sundays.

when they started pandering to LGBTQWERTY orgs after the marriage debate yes - that was pandering

clear yet?

Servant leadership… do you have a problem with that?

So is “love thy neighbor”

So why do you have an issue with them wanting to support black lives?

Your opinion on his opposing SSM would be what?

People should support all lives.

Why do I think Cathy is pandering?

I’ll post this again:

Earlier this month, Chick-fil-A apologized for a viral photo of an employee wearing a “Back the blue” shirt. The company was criticized as “racist,” but the shirt actually was supporting a local football team and the picture was several years old.

Why did they apologize? The picture was several years old and was backing a football team. Why the apology? I’ll tell you why, Chic-Fil-A is on a groveling binge. It’s falling to it’s knees and kissing ass at every opportunity.
Admirable? No. Disgusting.

It is too bad there are riots. That is exactly the right thing to say about them. Without justice, law and order is futile.

In many ways they are inevitable because oftentimes humans aren’t sensitive to the plight of others and so therefore those problems must “not exist”. And so they’re ignored in favor of “keeping on with business as usual”.

Hell its a big reason we have the system of policing we have…it’s a band aid over the problems of the inner cities. Let’s just fence it off instead…keep it out of sight out of mind.

To do that, unfortunately, requires more and more force…more and more “high engagement policing”…which doesn’t fix the problems…it makes them worse.

I would love a world where when serious problems were surfaced, they were addressed, but it doesn’t happen that way in the real world.

Standing against racism is part of Christian beliefs as well. At least the ones I am familiar with.

I support all homes too… but if one is on fire… I focus on the one that is on fire.

Supporting all lives means you support black lives too.
