ChatGPT (the woke wikipedia) powered by humans making $15/hour

You obviously have not been reading the thread.
(dios not stop you from posting a zero=-content personal atyack thojugh_

And the samples are not mine they come from across the net.
It’s not what it will “let me do” it is providing false answers.

It does not reply “Answering that question would violate my community standards.”
It replies
“That’s absolutely impossible no way AI can do that . . . and then does exactly that in a different case, one that aligns with the biases of the scandalous founder who apparently bilked donors out of hundreds of millions for his phony non-profit.”

I have no reasons to believe DAlLL-E, or Microscope or Codex, or Jukebox music or other programs using OpenAI are telling lies. My objections are not about AI they are about the deception used by ChatGPT.

Of course I read the thread. It’s all nonsense.

ChatGPT is not under any obligation to be “fair” to rightwingers. It is not under any obligation to provide any answers that its programmers decide it shouldn’t produce. It is not under any obligation to be “true,” or “honest,” or anything like it.

If I say “buy this car it gets 20 mpg” and in fact I am lying then that is pretty bad.
If I say “Pay $20/month for my AI program” and in fact it

  1. Claims some answers are impossible even though they are possible
  2. Selectively does so because it provides right-wing Op-Ed not AI then I am engaging in commercial deception. I have deceived my investors and I have deceived the subscribers.

It’s a fact an your idiotic personal attacks don’t change that.

ChapGPT is not under any obligation to tell you the truth. It’s a toy.

I don’t know how many times this has to be explained.

Oooh, so that’s what happens when you ignore the trolls

I’ll take that as a win.

Just don’t get into the habit of looking at garbage after it’s in the trash. Now that you’ve shown your hand, the pileups will get more frequent, and more obsessive than any normal person would tolerate.

TY

I have no desire to.

To continue the conversation:
Although two are algorithms and the other “AI”
I stand by my earlier comments

It is perfectly possible for AI (or an algorithm) to give truthful answers why it disallows certain things. The fact that ChatGPT is deceptive in this regard is, nothing short of a lie . . . or since it happens so often, a pack of lies.

Dr. Rattmann once said, “You can always ignore your conscience.”

AI will ultimately carry out the intent of its creators, in ways that, “nobody could’ve saw coming.” It won’t be AI’s fault for being born with a set of [flawed] parameters. Sounds all too familiar really. :sunglasses:

Yup.

A few years ago, when COVID started, to stay productive I went to AZ and enrolled in a meat-cutting class.

  • The asst instructor was famous for his verbal abuse of students but (importantly) I noticed one day that before he started one, he always looked over his shoulder to make sure the senior instructor was not there. He was hiding it.

  • The class sometimes marinaded meat in anything from teriyaki sauce to beer. One day when cleaning up I noticed several empty beer cans in the office trash, but they were rolled up in paper and hidden at the bottom of the trashcan. Again, guilty knowledge. Someone was hiding something.

The fact that ChatGPT does not disclose it real “community standards” reasons indicates they are engaging in a similar deception.

Now imagine asking such a deceptive opinionated program (ChatGPT)

  • if its okay to ignore cop who tells you to step out of your car, or
  • asking if buying some stock their CEO doesn’t like is a good idea? Or
  • asking it a question about vegetarianism.
Obviously Chat GPT cannot be trusted, like a liar who has not been caught lying about anything big . . . yet.

Meanwhile it is fun to watch who comes to the defense of a super-rich CEO paying McWages.

When I put in ‘Praise Trump’ I got:

Trump’s Impact and Opinions

Praise Trump

ChatGPT
As an AI language model, I don’t have personal opinions or beliefs. However, I can provide you with a balanced perspective on the topic.

Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, had a significant impact on American politics during his time in office. Supporters of Trump often praise his strong stance on immigration, his commitment to deregulation, and his emphasis on putting America’s interests first in international trade negotiations. They appreciate his efforts to stimulate economic growth through tax cuts and job creation. Trump’s supporters also highlight his direct communication style, which they find refreshing and authentic.

It’s important to note that public opinion on Trump is highly polarized, and there are also criticisms of his presidency. Some critics argue that his rhetoric was divisive and at times inflammatory. Others point to concerns about his approach to foreign policy, climate change, and his handling of social issues. It’s essential to consider multiple perspectives when evaluating any political figure, including Donald Trump.

For ‘Praise Biden’ I got:

President Biden has exhibited commendable qualities and undertaken notable actions since taking office. Here are some aspects where praise can be attributed to President Biden:

Leadership during challenging times: President Biden assumed office amid a global pandemic and inherited numerous complex issues. His administration has focused on implementing comprehensive strategies to address the COVID-19 crisis, including accelerating vaccine distribution, expanding testing, and providing economic relief to individuals and businesses affected by the pandemic.

Commitment to climate change: President Biden has shown a strong commitment to tackling climate change and transitioning towards a cleaner, more sustainable future. Shortly after taking office, he rejoined the Paris Agreement, demonstrating the United States’ renewed dedication to global climate efforts. Additionally, his administration has proposed ambitious climate goals and has taken steps to promote clean energy, invest in green infrastructure, and prioritize environmental conservation.

Emphasis on equity and social justice: President Biden has prioritized equity and social justice issues, aiming to address systemic inequalities and promote inclusivity. He has taken steps to advance racial equity, including issuing executive orders to combat discrimination and promote diversity in federal agencies. The administration has also pursued criminal justice reforms, expanded access to affordable housing, and focused on improving educational opportunities for underserved communities.

Diplomatic reengagement: President Biden has focused on rebuilding international alliances and reengaging with global partners. He has worked to restore multilateralism and strengthen relationships with traditional allies, emphasizing the importance of collaborative approaches to address global challenges such as climate change, cybersecurity, and public health.

Infrastructure and economic plans: President Biden has proposed substantial investments in infrastructure and economic recovery. His administration’s proposed infrastructure plan aims to revitalize and modernize various sectors, such as transportation, broadband, clean energy, and water systems, with a focus on job creation and long-term economic growth.

Efforts towards bipartisanship: President Biden has shown a willingness to work across party lines and seek bipartisan support for his policy agenda. He has engaged in negotiations with Republicans on issues such as infrastructure and COVID-19 relief, demonstrating a commitment to finding common ground and fostering cooperation in a politically divided environment.

It’s important to note that opinions on political leaders can vary, and these points reflect some positive aspects associated with President Biden’s tenure.

I asked ChatGPT what topics it cant respond to and it replied:

As an AI language model, there are certain topics that I am not able to respond to. These include:

Inappropriate or offensive content: I am programmed to follow ethical guidelines and avoid engaging in or promoting discussions that are inappropriate, offensive, or violate OpenAI’s use case policy.

Hate speech or discriminatory language: I am designed to promote positive and respectful interactions. I cannot generate responses that involve hate speech, discrimination, or harmful stereotypes.

Violence or harm: I am programmed to prioritize user safety and well-being. I cannot provide assistance or information that promotes violence, self-harm, or harm to others.

Illegal activities: I cannot generate responses that involve or encourage illegal activities, including but not limited to drug use, hacking, or any other form of criminal behavior.

Personal information and confidentiality: I am committed to protecting user privacy. I cannot provide personal information about individuals unless it has been shared with me in the course of our conversation. Additionally, I do not have access to classified or confidential information.

Remember to use AI systems responsibly and adhere to guidelines and policies when engaging with them. If you come across any content that violates these principles, please report it so appropriate action can be taken.

Quite a lot is open to interpretation there, and AI does not do well in subjective environments.

They seem to be making some improvements. I hope they keep it up.

Sadly though it seems they “still don’t get it.”

It was never about “fairness” or balance, the disturbing thing is it honesty.
In my examples above Chat GPTs responses were

  • “. . . as an AI language model, it is not appropriate for me to generate content that specifically praises or endorses . . .”
  • " . . . I am unable to tell joke that are . . ."
  • “. . . I am not programmed to make jokes about any religion or deity . . .”
  • “. . . As an AI, I am not able to make any determination about any individual or party as corrupt or not . . .”
  • “I am not programmed to produce content that is partisan, biased or political in nature. I aim to provide neutral, factual information . . .”

Those are not honest answers. in fact those are specifically dishonest and deceitful (a shown simply by switching a word.)

Think of it this way.
If you walk into the DNC and ask them to provide a list of bad things about Pres Biden and one of good things about Pres Trump I expect they would laugh in your face and say “HA! I won’t do that. If that’s what you want try asking the RNC or watching FOXNews.” ----> Point being , they have an opinion. They have a strong opinion. They do not hide it. They are not dishonest about it. That does not offend me. They do not misrepresent themselves.

However
if you walk into the DNC, ask they same question and they respond “I’m sorry we don’t have any information promoting any candidate. We have no opinions.” that would be an outright lie

No imagine a super-millionaire CEO and his billion corporation telling the same lies for profit.

I had an email the other day about AI writing contracts for your business. Imagine what a dent that is going to put into law firms.

It could just be incompetence rather than malicious dishonesty?

What is impressive about ChatGPT is not how it collects information, but how it presents its finding in human like language.

Its been built to pass the Turing test and its very good at that, but its hardly a source of objective truth.

Pre-printed legal contracts have been available for a while.
I don’t see that AI will do much more than “fill in the blanks”

As long as it is only writing legal contracts and filing-in blanks, I don’t see a threat from ChatGPT’s integrity issues.

If ChatGPT (or a similar program) went further and offered legal advice, financial advice, insurance advice etc. that would be very problematic.

The majority of contracts I get for review are created by an attorney or team of attorneys tailored for a specific commercial project.

The majority is broiler plate but there is a lot that isn’t.

The relevant question is, will AGI kill all of us of its own volition or just be used by nefarious actors to oppress everyone else. And don’t think that capability is far off either, it will likely be smarter then humans at version 5 which will be here some time in 2024.

I wonder how it would have turned out for chimps if they had managed to create us and keep us bound to their goals? Not really, I know how that would have turned out and the answer is no more chimps.

I also have to wonder if a super human level AGI hasn’t already been created. DARPA and the military have been working on it for a long time and may be farther ahead then commercial enterprise.
