Charlottesville jury awards over $24 million in damages in ‘Unite the Right’

Nice to see some accountability all these left and right lawsuits are paying handsomely :joy:

“ The jury found all defendants liable for civil conspiracy and racial, religious or ethnic harassment. They also found James Alex Fields, Jr., the perpetrator of a deadly car attack, liable for assault and battery and infliction of emotional harm against several of the defendants, claims for which they were cumulatively awarded $12 million in punitive damages.”

Imagine what the survivors of Tree of Life and Dancing Grannies will get.

Who will they sue though? Darrell Brooks doesn’t have $24 million and he isn’t going to earn it in jail.

To be paid by whom?

17 white nationalist leaders and organizations

The lawsuit funded by Integrity First for America, a nonprofit civil rights organization formed in response to the violence in Charlottesville, accused some of the country’s most well-known white nationalists of plotting the violence, including Jason Kessler, the rally’s main organizer; Spencer, who coined the term “alt-right” to describe a loosely connected band of white nationalists, neo-Nazis and others; and Christopher Cantwell, a white supremacist who became known as the “crying Nazi” for posting a tearful video when a warrant was issued for his arrest on assault charges for using pepper spray against counterdemonstrators.

I hope they have $25M.

The defendants.

James Fields, Jason Kessler, Richard Spencer, Nathan Damigo, Christopher Cantwell, and a bunch of other individuals, as well as the National Socialist Movement, Identity Evropa, the Traditionalist Workers Party, Vanguard America, and the League of the South.

Good. I hope they have it.

Lol doubt they have much money but good if they do.

I don’t know how it works if they don’t have the money. Will the court step in to force them to sell assets, garnish their wages, etc.?

Insurance would be on the hook.

Why would they have insurance?

Can you get racist insurance?

Since it was an organized event there could be insurance involved but its doubtful

How much of that suit over the car is James Alex Fields Jr going to pay? He can start working on it right after he serves his life sentence.

He can start working on it while completing his life sentence

Then I guess Darrel Brooks can do the same.

Absolutely…

So much snark with this judgment…

I don’t think insurance covers intentional or criminal torts.
