Wildrose has already pointed out that the Mexican populace don’t have guns. They “lynch” a drug dealer and their whole town will probably be burned to a crisp, men and women raped, etc.
Mexican drug dealers are inhuman and I agree they should all be executed without trial. What’s needed is a group of Americans with guns to do in their and do the job. (I’m totally serious.) It’s the only way the problem gets solved.
I prefer a two pronged approach.
First a hedge row. Fill it with every poisonous and unpleasant creature and declare it a bird sanctuary … all the bird watchers and ecoweenies will provide free enforcement.
Second, and more seriously, the government needs something it truly cares about to enforce the border: that something is taxes. Impose a fee on every entry, and type it to the duration of any stay, even sell “season tickets” for those working seasonally. The fee should not be trivial. That way every illegal becomes a tax dodger. We have the gumption to make sure every foreign beer is a Planned and Wanted Beer (and Legal) … the same would apply if we imposed a levy on border crossings.

Mexico has everything it needs for success: its people are heavily salted with Christian influence, make good soldiers, know how to work, they’ve abundant resources and not only can they feed themselves but export food.
What has held Mexico back is its government.
Had Mexico had everything West of the Mississippi and sound of Canada but still had the same folks running things in Mexico City it would just be a much larger basket case than it is.
It’s a GOOD THING they lost territory. Especially to those in those territories.
