Or allow goverment bureaucracy get in the way by controlling everything while denying their role in screw up that unfolded.

The flu has been wreaking havoc on Americans and the rest of the world for decades upon decades and that’s why there is a big push to get flu shots each flu season, it’s nothing new. And even with flu shots the amount of deaths from the flu are shockingly high each year.

When a “new” version of flu virus hits the globe is when fear strikes and that is what is happening now although the corona virus has been part of the family of flu viruses this new covid 19 Chinese strain has unknown properties, effects and outcomes. There will be a vaccine soon and I can pretty much guarantee it will be developed in a Western Civilized country and not some authoritarian “free HC” socialist or communist country.

America and the world survived the last 2009/2010 “national emergency” pandemic of the H1N1 Swine flu that killed over 14,000 Americans and 1/2 a million around the world and we will definitely survive this one which appears to be much less deadly since, so far, there is only 50 deaths in the USA and less then 6,000 in the entire world.

Yes- we do.

When’s the last time our health care system was completely overwhelmed by the flu?

Well the surgeon general is right! The media did not cover the devastating Swine flu of 2009/2010 the way the are covering this relatively mild “new” flu version of the corona variety and it’s outrageous how the MSM and the Dems have politicized covid 19 as another attempt to destroy President Trump! They don’t give a damn how it effects the American people physically, emotionally or financially, the leftist SOB’s just want their power back. It’s disgusting!

If this is mild compared to the swine flu, why are so many countries banning international travel and public gatherings?

Of course it is much more mild and there really is no need for panic. Whether its Obama and the Swine flu or Trump and covid 19…

but between the two USA Presidents Trump is more aggressive & will be more effective in handling covid 19 then Obama ever was with H1N1. The average pandemic lasts about three months and we will not see the death toll in the United States like we saw with the Swine flu.

I didn’t invent anything. A doctor at Johns Hopkins did. Yes, the known numbers are what they are. Its also known that the known numbers do not represent everyone who has or has had the virus.

Then why are countries banning large crowds? Israel just announced every cafe, cinema and restaurant in the country is going to be closed. And public gatherings of more than 10 people are to be banned.

They have less than 200 cases currently. You have over 2400.

Then why assume there are hundreds of thousands of unknown cases but also not assume there are not also dramatically more deaths as well?

What we know is what we know. Trying to work off of statistics that don’t exist doesn’t make much sense.

Trying to pretend that what is known represents the death rate of the virus also makes no sense.

Which is more likely…that someone will die of a flu like respiratory disease in February or March and no one will check to see whether it is flue or coronavirus, or
that someone will have a sneeze and a cough and just pass it off as a cold or allergy or slight case of flu without having it checked.

Use a little common sense here.

Use common sense and invent your own mortality rate. Ok.

It’s 0.00000001%. Rest easy now, you’re welcome.

As long as you realize you have the mortality rate of known tested people with the virus, and realize you don’t have the expected mortality rate of the actual virus, go with it.

As long as you realise the figures you have are the KNOWN figures and not the completely unknown ones, that’s fine.

I mean, ok.

Fine, if thats what you want to invent.

I merely stated the number of known deaths and the estimates and advice of a medical expert in the field.
Feel free to ignore those.

I’m not ignoring it, i’m pointing out the rather big flaw in your reasoning.

If there are exponentially more cases than is known (which is more than possible), then it stands to reason there could also be exponentially more deaths than are known.

They go with eachother, so any attempt to downplay current mortality rates because of “unknown” cases doesn’t really work.

Nope, just a bunch of flailing triggered sidekicks at this point. They can’t handle their own shame.

:sunglasses:

No, you don’t. They’re dying.

Again, who is more likely to be tested:
Someone with severe respiratory illness
Someone who has the virus but no symptoms
Someone who has a cough and a sneeze?

Multiple triggered replies to the same post? Damn dude, they got it bad for you too.

You’re also making some other big oversights.

The mortality rate won’t be constant. Italy pretty clearly shows that it will change drastically depending on how severe the outbreak is.
