It’s not a hoax, it’s a meaningless statistic.

DougBH:
And we have no idea what that mortality rate is. There are something like 50 reported deaths in the US. That’s out of how many people infected? We don’t really know. But reported cases are only those who felt ill and actually got tests.
What about 50 deaths out of 500,000? What would that death rate be?
By that logic, you don’t know how many have been killed by it either. The known numbers are what they are.
Sure you can invent whatever numbers you like to make it look better or worse, but i’m not sure that’s at all useful.
It is when for whatever reason you want to deny scientist’s and health officials claims about how much more dangerous COVID19 is compared to the flu

I mean the Government was asking the press not to criticise them in the midst of a crisis, there’s going to be a fairly predictible reaction to that request

Did this guy point at Trump’s Twitter feed?
““We really need you all to lean into and prioritize the health and safety of the American people. No more bickering, no more partisanship, no more criticism or finger-pointing. There’ll be plenty of time for that,” Adams said during a White House press conference Saturday.”
