Sea temps have only been recorded since I think the mid 1800s so its possible that any increase in sea temps is natural but on the flip side it could also be man made. Regardless of the reasons why the temperature of the oceans have risen the impacts are real

A Warming Ocean

Yes. I do not deny that. What I am saying is, it doesn’t take high ocean temps to develop category 5 hurricanes. That isn’t the reason. We’re not seeing anything abnormal. We’re just trying to use a different excuse.

There will be slight cooling too as we crest the peak of solar activity for this cycle. Another Krakatoa-like eruption could rob us of a couple more summers, never know. It did cause spectacular sunsets for years afterwards, so at least we got some historical art out of it. lol

Other than that, we’re at 12,000+ years of continual (net) warming and counting. Here’s hoping for an ice-free arctic that I could swim in someday.

I don’t know what is so alarming about 90 degree sea surface temperatures in the gulf. This is why hurricane season runs through November. It takes time for peak sea surface temps to dip below 80 degrees. Was November added to hurricane season? If so, not recently. But that would be a clear indication waters are warmer. But as far as I know, nothing has changed.

Aid to several communities impacted by Hurricane Helene was temporarily paused in parts of North Carolina over the weekend due to reports of threats against Federal Emergency Management Agency responders

As a response, they have been here to help and assist those in need. Recently in the mountain region, there have been threats made against them. This has not happened in Ashe County or the surrounding counties. Out of an abundance of caution, they have paused their process as they are assessing the threats.

But I think what you mean is the Pleistocene era. The Quaternary Period includes the Holocene.

if the Holocene ends and the quaternary continues, we will be in the depths of an ice age. If the holocene epoch and quaternary period end together, we will return to the pliestocene era norm.

Absolutely. At least over the last 800,000 years or so. The ice core data does not go back beyond that.

But those same ice cores show that the time span from stable warm eras to full ice ages was less than 100 years … and as little as ten years in some instances. That data was one reason some scientists were so concerned in the late 60s early 70s … they weren’t so much predicting that it was going to happen (like some media was suggesting) but that it was very possible.
