Capitalism VS Socialism for Dummies

Just as Christ spoke of.

I didnā€™t know that.

No. But wealthier than 99% of the country (by my guess), which is almost everyone.

I havenā€™t said anything about implementing a solution.

Is the lack of socioeconomic mobility a problem that needs addressing, in your mind?

Since govt is thousands of people yes it can.

Yepā€¦

Iā€™m still not following? Are you implying that a socialist system might provide more opportunity?

How many would be sufficient to satisfy you?

Whatā€™s your desired endgame?

But that simply isnā€™t the case. Iā€™m living proof. I also provided articles in my prior post stating otherwise.

So to be clear, you believe socialist central planning is a viable alternative to capitalism?

I never said there was zero socioeconomic mobility, therefore youā€™re not proof that contradicts anything Iā€™ve said.

You might be right. I reluctantly concede the point.

Iā€™m still at a loss to understand the point you are trying to make???

He wasnā€™t born poor either. He was solidly middle class from birth. But with hard work he entered the 1% of the 1%. Iā€™m a fan of Gates; his charity work is second to none.

But ultimately he had an easier going of life then some poor nameless dude out of the ghetto. Itā€™s fairly easy to move from middle class to upper middle class and even farther up the ladder. Itā€™s getting from poverty to middle class that is so hard in America. Itā€™s not impossible but it is difficult.

Yepā€¦

Iā€™m not implying, or suggesting an endgame.

Iā€™m pointing out that, despite your claims, not everyone in a capitalistic system has equal opportunity.

Do with that fact what you will. I have no motive beyond pointing out the reality.

A free market economy doesnā€™t include subsidies for people working full time, whoā€™s wages are such that they canā€™t afford food and shelter.

ā€œlack ofā€ kind of implies that something doesnā€™t exist.

So then you do concede that there is opportunity for upward mobility, but not enough? So how much is enough and what is your proposed solution to address what you perceive is a problem?

And yet 3.5 million Americans did exactly that in 2015.

And yet it has never succeeded? How do you reconcile that fact?

i think itā€™s kind of cool that a lot of athletes from inner cities/poor areas are making huge money and will be/are running a ton of companies now and in the future. they will be employing people like those here and they tend to go back and help those poor neighborhoods. some of those guys are the leaders of the future. or their kids (who will have more opportunity).
