Capitalism VS Socialism for Dummies

So what is it exactly that you are saying? Are you saying that Americans living at the bottom of the income scale have no chance at making it to the top?

They have a far less chance than those born at the top and the likelihood has been getting lower over the recent decades.

LIBs believe Socialism is a viable alternative to capitalism if it is implemented properly.

That has nothing to do with teh fact that Paris Hilton HAD MORE OPPORTUNITY.

think about it this way…

Out of 100 kids born with 100s or millions of inheritance, how many remain millionaire or billionaires? 95?

Out of 100 entrepreneurs born poor or to modest homes, how many become millionaires? 1? Billionaires? .001?

Perfect thank you. What in your opinion is a small amount of government control?

In fact I’ll make it even more interesting. You are on the record here as stating that Trump has caused an economic boom by repealing regulations, which in your opinion were a hindrance to the economy. So again what’s a small amount of government control?

You said this before:
‘‘Bill Gates is a prime example proving that you don’t have to be born with a silver spoon to be successful.’’

And it seems you have a habit of saying things that are very inaccurate. And why should we believe anything you say about socialism or capitalism.

As in Paris Hilton wealthy? Not by any stretch of the imagination.

Bill Gates wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth as Paris Hilton was. You still haven’t answered my question. Are you saying that someone at the bottom of the income scale has no chance at making it to the top? With this continued prattle about Paris Hilton, I’m at a loss to understand your point?

Less is better.

By the definition I provided, America is a free market economy.

So in your mind everyone should be a millionaire or a billionaire? I’m confused by your argument. What is it that you are trying to say?

And the solution is socialism???

NO!!!

All I am saying is…in a capitalist system, money gives you more opportunity. A person with more money, like Paris Hilton, has more opportunity to get even richer - or, for that matter, to become an artist, or whatever it is you may want to do - than a person without money.

That’s all.

Paris Hilton inherited her wealth

The hint is in her last name.

I am questioning the argument that Capitalism is inherently merit based.

Sure… merit does matter but there are a ton of other factors that are being excluded here.

That would make sense if there didn’t exist during Capitalism in this country a time of company towns being paid with company scrip only good in company stores.

This thread is extremely flawed. If you don’t want socialism in America you’re going to have to find a way to get rid of Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid among other programs. These programs are never going away and as long as they are here we have a socialist society. If you want to debate degrees of socialism and degrees of capitalism, that would be a much better debate, but cons can’t have that discussion because they have been told socialism bad, capitalism good.

Right the definition you provided includes the phrase small amount of government control. That word small is in the eye of the beholder. But if the market is regulated by say the SEC is it free?

As a side note, I am willing to bet you are one the very few conservatives who believes that America operates in a free market economy.

Your questions and arguments are riddled with logical inconsistencies and inaccurate statements(as I just verified) so there’s little use proceeding and getting more of the same.

Just starting to read the thread.

But I expect to see a lib pull out the "you don’t really understand socialism " narrative.

Let’s see if I’m right.

I will check in later.
