Capitalism VS Socialism for Dummies

Could you elaborate???

Socialism bad.

Your memes are tired.

Are you implying that government takeover of industries is inherently a good thing if competent government officials are put in charge?

LeBron James’ kids will have way more opportunity (due to $$$ and contacts) than any republican here or their kids. That’s the way our country works.

No, obviously not. Please do not attempt to read into my responses beyond what is stated.

Government nationalized major industries. That is socialism. You then stated that incompetence came later.

The root cause of the problem was the take over. Government incompetence at running a major industry is a given.

Power breeds corruption. Money is just another way of measuring power.

And, there is always class, even in a ‘‘classless’’ society. Or, might say, there is no such thing as a classless society.

So paris Hilton and jezcoe have equal opportunity? Can I have some of those drugs your taking?

Both capitalism and socialism have classes.

With capitalism in a free society, everyone has the opportunity to move up or down between the various classes. In socialism there are only 2 classes. The ruling class consisting of less than 1% of the population, and everyone else - who is doomed to live in abject poverty.

Those are the tired old talking that I was referring.

Here I thought you wanted to have a serious discussion.

You’ve never read anything about socialism. Or realize how the modern America is governed.

You keep contradicting yourself. Once again, are you implying that government officials can take over and competently run whole industries?

How could you possibly know what I’ve read or what I know?

If you have a point to make, please feel free to make it, rather then telling me what I do or don’t know.

Neither of those things are trie.

You do not have the same opportunity to move up or down that Paris Hilton has, because Paris Hilton has a ton of money for doing nothing and in a capitalist system, money=opportunity.

Socialism is not limited to 2 classes. You are more describing communism, but even that is not quite right.

Steve Jobs and Bill Gates might disagree with you.

In its purest form, there are only 2 classes. The ruling class and everyone else.

It’s obvious from the post of yours I quoted where you said, in part:
‘’ In socialism there are only 2 classes. The ruling class consisting of less than 1% of the population, and everyone else - who is doomed to live in abject poverty.’’

Which on the face is wrong. Example, you’ll have warrior class(military), artisan, farmer, industrial, etc.

And the ‘‘abject poverty’’ part is your own, political, opinion.

I’m not contradicting anything that I’ve said. You keep attempting to read further into my statements, it is not serving the discussion well at all. I think it more accurately reveals your bias than my positions.

I’ll answer your questions.
Yes, governments can run industries competently.
No, that is not inherently a good thing.

No contradictions in anything I’ve said. That’s entirely in your head.

So how does this transformation take place?

So once again back to Venezuela. The government nationalized many industries - basically a socialist behavior. You don’t see that as the beginning of the end?

Government then has to run those industries, and you believe they can do it competently?

And the failure of the government to run those industries competently is the real reason Venezuela is a failed economy?

Am I getting closer??

So the abject poverty in Venezuela, North Korea, Cuba, the old Soviet Union, East Germany, etc. is just my political opinion?

Got it. :+1:
