How much is too much? Socialists will always be looking for more Government control. They will never be satisfied until the Government controls everything. By then it will be too late, as it is in Venezuela. I’m 100% convinced that no one intentionally set out to destroy that once vibrant economy. But there you go……………

Here’s an idea.

Rather than continuing to point to Europe as a model for the U.S., why not simply move to Europe rather than trying to remake the U.S. into Europe?

Everyone has the opportunity to achieve whatever they set their mind to. Socialism offers nothing remotely similar.

Not everyone will achieve unbridled success, but the opportunity is there. That opportunity simply doesn’t exist in a socialist society.

In know way do the following terms apply specifically and exclusively to one or the other. Instead they are terms where there is a bias in their prevalence.

We weren’t discussing getting wealthy from those endevours. We were discussing Paris Hilton getting fabulously wealthy for doing nothing and how that relates to your claim that capitalism is merit based.

It’s not a measure. It’s simply asking a question. Are there certain countries in Europe that are more along the socialist slope than we are yet are not in danger of turning into Venezuela?

Basically equality of results. The concept of equality of opportunity seems to be a difficult concept to grasp amongst those who believe socialism is a viable alternative to capitalism.

Pride and nationalism. The government leaders bought popular support from their people with the proceeds of their oil reserves.

The incompetence came later when they could not maintain the industries and then bad monetary policy.
