I keep hearing how these Democrat politicians are all so highly educated and are amongst the most brilliant minds we have. Elect Democrats and life will get better, that’s what libs tell us.
Remember that in a sanctuary state “affordable housing for all” means anyone form anywhere in the world. HUD and HHS are now starting working together to assure that federal supported housing supplements are provided only to citizens who have a legal right to them. There is something like a sixty day period for housing units to verify legal status of those being paid…so states will have to take care of any illegals if they want to.
No I am not deflecting, but as usual the discussion starts to talk about communism which has nothing at all to do with the OP.
And yes in the society we live today I do not think its too much to try and ensure everyone has access to housing that is clean, safe and affordable.
No one is talking about utopia or that the problem can be eliminated 100 but it should not stop us from trying to be better as a society and striving to achieve this.
The US has some of the brightest minds alive today so if there is a real commitment to this I have no doubt we can figure out a way forward. It will not be perfect but it will be a start.
Let’s start by putting slumlords out of business and lets move forward with Trumps proposal to ban large institutional investors more private homes. This is something Trump and people like Newsom are aligned.
Lets see if his ideas work first. If he does not deliver then the voters will remove him at the next election. Exactly how our system is intended to work.
Every politician has a healthy ego, the fact they are running for office is proof of that.
Yes, something should be done. Perhaps interest needs to be lowered by Jerome Powell. That would help tremendously. What would also help tremendously is if Americans didn’t have to compete with people here illegally for the limited number of available houses, you know-supply and demand and all. Another thing would be to rein in the ridiculous bureacatic regulations and hurdles the government places upon home builders and property owners that prevent new houses from being built and destroyed homes- like in fire ravaged California for example, to be rebuilt. Perhaps something should be done about big corporations buying up massive numbers of homes and then being able to charge gigantic prices to rent or buy them. If only gasoline and utility costs could be lowered making transportation of lumber and other materials to build houses cheaper. If only Americans didn’t have to compete for jobs with illegals, who are glad to work for less money, which would raise overall wages and make houses more affordable…
But wait a minute, what am I saying?? Donald Trump is doing or working on all these things and good Lord WE MUST OPPOSE TRUMP AT ALL COSTS! Never mind, SOCIALISM is the answer!
Get back to us when you do what your mouth is demanding others do. Get back to us when you take in a few families that can’t find a house to rent. I am sure you have the room for a couple.
It is easy for people like you to spend others money. While you hold on tight to every dime you can.
It’s hard or impossible going about it when you can’t get through on the roads or call 911.
What about rights of THOSE people.
That’s why I say that people, protesters, are allowed to be stupid a little to much under the banner of " they have rights ".
IMO outbursts and riots like these in Minneapolis should be stopped one way or another on DAY 2.
I believe that Trump hasn’t done anything yet is because he is waiting to have enough documentation and have all his ducks in a row.
What’s going on in Minnesota is totaly unacceptible and ridiculous.
How long should those Anarchists be cuddled???
Actually, Mamdani is on record expressing his desire for the “abolition of private property”, which is absolutely aligned with communist ideology. Furthermore, the idea behind collectivism which he openly advocates also doesn’t believe in private ownership of anything which absolutely aligns with the ideas within communism. Just because someone doesn’t adamantly say they are such and such doesn’t mean they aren’t.
The irony of Mamdani is he’s coming into a place that has been ruled by Democrats for the last 20 years.
The biggest reason for rising prices is intrusive government.
*Regulations now account for almost a quarter of the cost of a new home. *
“The permitting process in most American cities is so convoluted it can take months, sometimes even years, to get simple permits,” said Slivinski.
*One California project, for example, took 22 years — just to get approvals. *
“You can’t meet the market demand if you are taking 22 years to bring a community to market,” a builder in Sacramento complains.
“$93,000 a house, just for the privilege to build the house!”
Also, NYC is an open borders sanctuary city. One has to be an idiot to think that you can absorb endless levels of the world’s poverty into a community and think that there will not be consequences.
