I tried one last week, it wasn’t bad.
I’ll take a nice rare Bison burger over an impossible burger any time.

If you want to lose weight it’s simply calories in and calories out. Math. The rest is really about being able to control your appetite and then accounting for wear (if you are very active).
To do so without going insane it is best to avoid sugar, carbs and too much fat. Well unless you can do the keto thing (not appetizing to me), which I think is best for shorter periods as I have heard of some odd long term results.
Protein is a good focus but probably wasted after a certain point (expensive…) unless you are very active and want to add muscle. It does help satiate.
I find intermittent fasting helps, and I like to work out because it allows me to eat bigger meals
Offsetting sugar with fiber is very important for your insulin levels (non-diabetics of course). This is why eating a fruit is good for you, but drinking a soda made with cane sugar is not.
A friend just dropped off three moscovy ducks for my freezer. I am going to have to figure out how to cook them. They are now part of my American diet
I recommend once a year drinking a bottle of the Devil’s Nectar on a Saturday morning before breakfast. Have a tablet or something nearby in the bathroom. Bring extra tissues for your eyes. For the average person, this will take 8 - 15 pounds of poo away from their life, mainly the stuff that’s been stuck to the walls of their large intestines for a while.
It would also help to take a probiotic with the next meal.

It would have helped - as several others have said - if you’d provided a link to where you’d just read “that statement” so people could see what you were talking about.
The question is - do governments have a responsibility to their citizens to prevent them from ingesting foods/drinks that are harmful to their health?
Do you smoke, conan? Do you believe the government has the right to tax cigarettes in an effort to prevent people from smoking, when smoking is known to cause a host of health issues?
The same thing applies to red meat.
I (and I’m a Republican…though moving toward Independent) think people have a right to eat what they want to eat and their food should not have a penalty tax applied to it.
But…if they do so…they have absolutely no right to whine and sue meat manufacturers/cigarette manufacturers, etc. etc. if they develop the cancers they were warned about.
someone is seriously losing it.
I’ve been working on the whole sugar thing for a couple years now. It hasn’t been that hard, I never had that much of a sweet tooth - I’ve always drank my coffee black and preferred seltzer to soda.
Just your posting style, I guess. I dunno, just the impression that I got.
I certainly didn’t mean it as an insult.

Good God.
No, no. I’m trying to draw out the compliments (e.g., “You are far smarter than your age.”, “It is very rare someone your age is so knowledgeable about political matters.”).
Metamucil did that!?
Yup
15 calories per pound of body weight to maintain weight
-3500 calories = 1 lb of weight loss

Well, I’m not saying I disagree with either of those statements, but mainly I was just surprised. I guess I’m just used to being younger than most of the posters here, even though I’m apparently older than anyone who has posted their age in this thread.
I’ve been here way too long.
I’ve been with the board since December 2012.
I used to be able to eat everything under the son without any repercussions, until I hit my thirties. Since then, I started to make specific lifestyle changes to incorporate a healthier diet and exercise routine. Currently, my standard diet is based on whether I’m in bulk or cut phase. In both phases, I’m 16/8 intermittent fasting eating between the hours of 10:30am and 6:30pm
Bulk phase (5 weeks) is ~2500 calories with 40c/30p/30f ratios
Cut phase (8 weeks) is ~1700 calories with 20c/40p/40f ratios
I drink a fully sustainable meal replacement derived from plant products with added protein for my first meal at 10:30am, and then two more meals that I make or prep at home with lean protein, whole grains and vegetables. I only do this during the week, and let things kind of just happen during the weekend. I don’t hold back on any types of food or drinks when I’m out with family or friends, but I am more mindful of portion size. All in all, I’ve been able to maintain a lifestyle where I’m not excluding any of my favorite foods, but still am able to be active and healthy.
Its powers are vast and dangerous. But you could eat off my colon afterwards! Sparkling clean!
@FlameHeart is even younger than me. She’s probably 20 or 21 by now.
I’ve been here since 2007, I think.
I must have been 22 or 23.
You said getting out excrement was painful. It’s not supposed to work like that.
