Can Boris Survive?

The Russian interest rates are going down and inflation has gone way down since February.

Rates in the UK are going up and inflation is accelerating. The Russian sanctions are making the problems worse.

Nope…

Johnson’s Ukraine policy is actually the one thing the public support him for.

This thread is hilariously ill informed.

Dude- its the partying without masking during covid while telling people to always mask up. The hypocrisy. And yes Lefty politicians have done it too.

The strong ruble means that inflation is near zero.

The economic sanctions were supposed to be the nuclear option. The Russian economy has survived a nuclear first strike, now all the fallout is blowing westward.

Lordy- ok there is no inflation in Russia. But inflation in Britain is what is causing a no-confidence vote for Boris- even though the MPs have said its about covid restriction violations/hypocrisy.

OK go on with your view of reality.

BTW Johnson won.

But hes still a dead mam walking.

Yes, the vote in Britain is about Johnson.

No one is proposing a real change in economic policy or sanctions. The crisis is only going to get worse for the foreseeable future.

Winning 211-148. You’re right- he keeps power but …it won’t be for long.

May was gone after 6 months.

I hope.he suffers for a while and then gets stabbed on the back.

Yes because the ruble over heated because it’s being used for exports. Thats not a good thing. . You should stop reading zerohedge.

None of the links are from Zerohedge.

You should stop reading the NYT and WashPost. They have been pushing lies and misinformation for years, and then they support censorship of anyone who points them out.

No no no. You have to read Moscow Times.

Wait- would the Kremlin put out different information?

Only the crystal truth!

Or read the Reuters link in post 11.

The value of the ruble went down by about 40% as a result the nuclear-option financial sanctions. Now the value of the ruble is about 30% higher than what it was before the sanctions. That change has reversed inflation in Russia.

In contrast inflation in the west is accelerating.

Yes, the British media have fed them non-stop disinformation that only reports Ukrainian victories, real or imagined.

Will the public continue to support the sanctions when it becomes impossible to hide the defeats of Ukraine on the battlefield?

Will the elites in London things care if lower class Brits are freezing and going hungry as a result of the sanctions?

Completely and utterly wrong. The no confidence vote is because of how Johnson and his cronies broke their own lock down laws in the middle of the pandemic and then lied about it.

So who is going to be the Tory who sinks the knife in Johnson’s back and then won’t be made PM and someone else will? Not a deep well of talent it seems.

Okay, breaking the lockdown rules and lying about it is big deal, but not big enough to remove Johnson from his office. Most the leadership of the Democratic Party would be out of power if the US vigorously enforced this rule.

On the other hand, provoking a war then lying about it is patriotic.
