It’s not the police’s job to protect you.
Their job is to arrest and investigate. To enforce the laws of the state. It is a reactive force, not a proactive force. There are times when they are able to protect citizens but that happens by chance, not by design. Otherwise we would have one police officer for every citizen in every location.
So the wealthy can pay for protection and the rest of us can just get ■■■■■■■
I don’t have the money to afford a security squad. So I have to defend myself.
That case was the cops’ fault, not the second amendment or the fact that he was legally exercising his right to carry.
We give the police way too much power. If I’m carrying a cop shouldn’t even speak to me about it barring me committing a crime.
Fear is living rent free in 20 room mansion in your minds.

Ever lived in a dangerous neighborhood?
Some people don’t have a choice in the matter. It’s not a matter of intelligence. Seen the price of homes and rental properties in nice areas? I live in a middle class area that is fairly safe but I am in short driving distance of a ghetto where they will literally pistol whip you to death for looking at them the wrong way. There are good decent people in those areas who literally have no way out. At the mercy of animals.
Who are you to tell them what they can and cannot defend themselves with. Some love for the poor you have.

Why would I be afraid, I have a gun and I know how to use it.

Gun control is not only classist, it’s racist.

I have. Over the years I have lived in the South Bronx, Brooklyn and Newark.
The most important thing is to have some basic street smarts. If you need to pull a gun it’s probably too late.

As someone who has actually lived in a country other than the United States (and no serving in the US military abroad is not the same as actually living and working in another country) I can tell you that I never at any time felt unsafe nor did I find myself living under the jackboot of tyranny.
I was able to say what I wanted without fear of persecution by the government, I was able to vote freely for the candidate of my choice. I was free to move around to my hearts content. I was free to move jobs any time I wanted. I was even free to purchase private health insurance if I so wanted.
But with that said I dont have anything against the 2A. If someone wants to carry a firearm because they live their life in constant fear then who am I to complain.

I lived in another country for 15 years, not in the military. A country with tens of thousands of kidnappings and a war going on.
I never felt “unsafe” either, I carried a gun. And I know how to use it.
How would you know what living “abroad” in the US military is like? I lived on the economy then too.

Sorry mate I have lived abroad in the military maybe not the US military but the military just the same, you cannot compare it because you have the safety net of the military. You are surrounded by your own countrymen, you are surrounded by your own culture. You live and work in familiar surroundings. Heck I have been on US military bases in the UK and other countries in Europe and its just like stepping into an American town. Full of familiar brands and comforts of home.
There is zero comparison between someone serving abroad as part of the military, diplomatic corp etc and someone living and working in another country.

I’m not your “mate”. Again, 15 years - not in the military. A legal resident.
Again, on the economy, not on the base. Another 10 years.
