Is California the only state with barking seals?
Alaska, Washington, and Oregon must have them too.
They had a hockey team called the Golden Seals.

I am willing to consider any proposal that has guarantees and makes sense.
All socialism isnât bad. The problem with progs is they never stop and think it is the solution to everything.
Progs donât think. Just default to âgubmintâ.

If California cannot craft and enact single payer by itself then perhaps a regional collective would work with Washington and Oregon.
The TriState SEAL of health care.
Show them red states how its done.

I agree. Letâs limit the Venezuelazition of the US to a defined area.

Palm springs? Or Temecula? Looks familiar
Stadium course at PGA West.
Why?
I mean I like aspects of single payer healthcare. Like the German system.
But why is it required for the federal government to do it?
It should work on a state by state level if itâs a scalable approach to healthcare.

So lets do some simple math.
Using the mid point of the numbers given in the article on the cost â that would be 352 BILLION dollars to do single payer/universal health care in California with a population of roughly 39 million people. That works out to roughly $9,000 for every single person in California.
United state population is 332 million people. Lets use th 9k per person (national scale and the feds involved that number will most likely be higher). That make is 3 TRILLION dollars on the national scale. So if we go back to the 2019 fiscal year budget . . . the last one before all the COVID spending was 2.1 TRILLION dollars (400 billion deficit). We are now up to 3.3 TRILLION dollar budget (1.6 Trillion deficit)
How in the hell do we pay for single payer that is MORE than the entire budget of the United States??? oooh never mind I know tax the evil corporations and evil rich people. That much tax how long until all the evil coporations are out of business and the Evil rich people are now non evil broke people???

Knew I recognized that place! Lived in Palm Springs for a year. Not a golfer but spent some time there.
How much did the population spend on healthcare?
Does the expense need to be the same for younger as for older folk?

so tax the people. Will the lower wage earners have to pay into in by way of tax, or do they get another free ride and only tax the evil rich and evil corporations to pay for it?

And under single payer/universal will people STILL have to pay premiums for part b,c and D.
I know about 15 years ago my 90 year old grandmother had to pay $300 every 3 months (1,200 per year) for the âextraâ coverage. Not to mention when she died, the federal government put at 100,000 lien on her estate.
Low wager earners already get it on the state level. Thatâs the Medicaid expansion.
As there should be. There should be single payer with private available for supplemental.

I didnât say be eligible . . . I said will they PAY (aka be taxed) into the system?

So what youâre saying . . . on top of the 3+ trilling to pay for it, people will STILL need to pay for supplemental to have good healthcare?

There is no place in the U.S. with a better chance to pass a single payer system economically and politically than California.
There economy is bigger than the UK yet has half the population. If itâs not going to pass in the most progressive state in America it has no chance at the national level. I think the days of 60+ members in the senate in one party are over for the foreseeable future.
The problem with California and most of America is there to many other taxes going on to give to people who donât not contribute or pay taxes. The majority of people in the Scandinavian countries with single payer have been putting in since they started working.
To many leeches and to many politicians willing to hand over money from the working families to them thatâs not how the Scandinavian countries fund their healthcare.
It might not be a comfortable truth but when 61% of the country isnât putting in just taking out it â â â â â the rest of us who are contributing.

Good is subjective. I think a mix of the two systems is good
What i am saying is that the system as is, is broken. Simple.
