Yup. Everything is hard, why even try?

If by trying you mean
“lay off the over zealous environmental laws until AFTER you figure out to provide electricty better than Zimbabwe does” then yes I am all for it."
If by trying you mean
“Go ahead and do the same stuff hoping for a different result” then I have a question for you.

What’s the definition of insanity?

There was something about extending the nuclear plant until 2030…
And the only other details I found said this:
But the state’s policy is expected to prolong use of some natural-gas power plants, which are now scheduled to begin going offline next year. State officials already had delayed the closures by three years.
Also by trying, I mean build more NG power plants

There are drving age kids in California today who have never known life without rolling blackouts. LOL
But the same people withe the same ideologies are suddenly magically going to get better and fix the problem.
Although electric tankless water heaters are more cost effective to operate over all, they are generally more expensive to buy and require far more current to operate than a tank type.
For example, I have a 4 burner Rheem that requires 4 separate 40amp. breakers, or a total of 160 amps. draw at peak usage. If you have a large family and use a lot of hot water the savings in cost soon disappears. They also require annual maintenance to flush the copper burners if you want to extend the life of the unit. To calculate cost compare not only the cost of the heater but also any necessary upgrade to your electric service, cost of circuit breakers and usually 8 gauge wire for each burner. It can get rather expensive.

So they are going to ban NG water heaters, next they will ban NG back up generators.

So despite loss of energy via long distance power lines, rolling blackouts, etc.
NG home heating to be replaced with NG electricity for home heating.
What a perfect fossil-free solution!

Yes NG heaters are to be replaced with central plannin g and NG electric generators. They are not getting rid of NG, but they are not reducing pollution, they are making millionaires and centralizing the economy.

Don’t be so sure they won’t ban personal back up generators.

If they don’t I am sure they will at least centralize them in some way.
Meanwhile . . . .

Ban gas heat, gas cooking and gas hot water, banning all the personal back up generators would be the next logical step. Then they can disable the gas supply to entire neighborhoods and cities. Of course there will be exceptions for those whose wealth and status demand that they not experience the lot of the little people.

I also support Diablo Canyon being extended.
If I were king of California, I’d build more nuclear plants and link them to desalination plants.
Anyway…

charcoal grills, gas grills, gas stoves, gas ovens . . . it must all come from a centralized power source, preferably state-owned but built and owned by politicians’ friends will do if necessary.

Nothing says take care of the little guy like making political cronies wealthy.

Yeah, you’re right. We should never try to solve anything, it’s just too hard.

Trying does not mean same old people same old ideas trying the same old things expecting a different result. That is not the defintion of trying that is the definition of insanity.
Hw about this
- elect people who will fix the electricyty problems
2.) then fix the electricty problems
- then if you still want to add more burden to the grid add more burden to the grid THEN.
(See: “Trying” and “repeating the same failed stuff” are not te same.)
There is nothing more frightening than a career politician trying to help.

Well, that’s what has happened. The plants are being built, no new heaters after 2030. Please note, existing heaters remain in place.
Glad we could reach accord on this.

Stoners with short term memory problems trying to help . . . not realizing they are doing the same thing they just tried 16 times before.
