I support this move.
AB2147 by Assembly Member Phil Ting, D-San Francisco, prohibits police officers from stopping or citing people who cross the street outside of a crosswalk “unless a reasonably careful person would realize there is an immediate danger” of a collision with a vehicle or bicyclist.
Freedom. Not so much an authoritarian state.
Will drivers not be prosecuted for vehicular homicide after running over a pedestrian that walks out into the street from between two parked cars or because the ped. had the “fweedom” to do so?
San Francisco is controlled by morons.

Perhaps “pedestrians” will learn not to walk out from between parked cars.

Ah, the magnanimity of allowing his subjects to cross the street as they choose…such a benevolent ruler.

Great use of the word magnanimity. Describes Newsome perfectly. Among the many definitions of magnanimity it means “brave in the face of danger”. (I looked it up, (don’t perceive me as highly educated).
So Herr Newsome bravely signed a bill that in effect allows his California maggotry the ability to put themselves in danger by having the fweedom to stroll into the streets as they please.
That about right?
Magnanimity
with traffic and safety rules, are californians ever truly “free?”

“I shall restrict the cars they buy and the heaters they warm themselves with. But, I’ll allow them to cross the street and they’ll love me for it.”

Nearly 5 million Californians voted to recall Newsome last year. The “loving” isn’t quite unanimous.

True, but how many of those 5 million would vote that way now having been bestowed the privilege of crossing the street as they see fit?

Good for Jay.
Now, what about Bob or Phil?
If Californians can’t cross the middle of the street on their way to the abortion clinic, no one is free.

And of course it’s about racism: “When expensive tickets and unnecessary confrontations with police impact only certain communities, it’s time to reconsider how we use our law enforcement resources and whether our jaywalking laws really do protect pedestrians.” – Phil Ting, Democrat
