I’d prefer this new ballroom not have corporate sponsors.
I just looked at what the east wing was previously used for.
They basically built it to cover the bunker, then filled it with useless offices.
The ballroom can cover the PEOC.
I do think it’s bad optics to do it while the government is “shutdown.”

I think demolishing parts of the White House during a shut down was a political miscalculation by the Trump administration. It’s a pretty stark image that might resonate with people. IDK, I think the timing is a huge mistake.

You are wrong. Major renovations need government funding which congress needs to approve. Trump is funding the renovations like many times when donations have funded renovations so congress is not needed.

Was that what was going on when past presidents used donations for renovations? I am sure democrat and GOP presidents have used donations for renovations in the past.
