Yes, they both did.

Double asterisk for this one then.

Who is? Certainly not the Federalist Society who was able to tell the previous guy who to pick.

I’m not sure, the dems aren’t as transparent as the repugs. In this case maybe the CBC? Or NAACP? Or BLM?

Funny how your asterix only came about for the black female…until I pointed out ACB and O’Connor.

Is it? I accepted your whataboutism. What else do you need?

ā€œThis is about representation,ā€ Finney added. ā€œThis is about having a Supreme Court with a diversity of lived experiences.ā€

Another Democrat involved in the efforts put it this way: ā€œWe cannot allow this to get marred in foolishness.ā€

Looks like Hawley has decided to take the opposition lead. A mistake in my opinion.

Different times. You wouldn’t be one of those people who floated Michelle Obama as a justice I hope.

Nah, he has a relevant objection.

Increased exposure, the base will love it and donations will flow. I think he’ll be just fine.

What is his ā€œrelevant objectionā€?

You opine that he is making a mistake, yet don’t even know what he is saying?

Why don’t you first look into that, then come on back.

I did. It’s not relevant.

So I took a beat to ponder this, and I think ā€˜relevant’ is not the word I want.

Effective. He has a potentially effective line of attack.

Certainly still more relevant that unconfirmable rape allegations from 20 years ago.

Effective how?

In my opinion, ā€œattackingā€ her is a mistake for Hawley.

Effective in that it has substance. It isn’t made up, she really did ignore sentencing guidelines for some child pornographers.

Now, there is a whole discussion around that, which is grist for the mill that we enjoy so much around here, but at it’s core, it happened.

As far as Hawley taking it up, I disagree. People who would never vote for him will be disgusted, but the base will support him, and he can fund raise iff that.

ā€œThe baseā€ is irrelevant.

Not if they are contributing money.

The bases will contribute money to the letter behind to the letter behind the name. The ā€œindependentsā€ get you elected.

Attacking a black female over Breyer’s seat is not going to win independents.

As a general statement that is true, but becomes less true when applied to specific candidates, and Hawley is one of them.

For sure, a political calculation was made by his campaign, and they concluded that he does not have a problem independents.
His base alone will see to his re-election.

And again, this is all under-girded by the fact that the accusation is true.
