A lot of the Protestant loyalists in N.I would like a hard border because it would mean less likelihood of a united Ireland,unfortunately if the dissident republicans attack the border and border guards the loyalist paramilitaries will start the tit for tat killings like they did in the past.

Although people say there has been peace for a generation it isn’t quite true.There are still riots during the walking season,there is still a huge barrier dividing parts of Belfast along religious lines.It won’t take much to set it all off again

It’s looking like a tie between the 3 main parties but I don’t think any parties in the South would be seen to back a hard border.I honestly don’t see a viable solution to this problem that will be accepted on both sides of the border and the EU itself.This is why I believe we should’ve sorted out things like this before leaving but Boris knew better.

Since Gerry Adams stepped down as leader,there support in the South has really grown.The present leader Mary Lou McDonald represents Dublin and hasn’t got the paramilitary baggage Adams had which would preclude a lot of people supporting them and has made a real effort in the Republic to win votes,it seems to have paid off.

With almost half (77 of 160) seats won Sinn Fein has won 29 seats, 13 more than the next party. It seems to me that this will complicate a resolution of bojo’s irrational Northern Ireland border plans.

Well we have been hit by some a lot of rain over the last few weeks and there has been extensive flooding in some parts which is the second and third time for some of these areas.Boris is avoiding visiting these areas because he knows he will get a slagging off over the governments handling of it and is keeping a low profile.

It’s a shame we can’t export this rain to your country as you need it a lot more than we do!

Thanks @Tommy-Englander. From what I have read and heard about Johnson it shouldn’t be a surprise that he has done nothing. Our PM, Scott Morrison, at the height of our bushfire crisis thought it would be a good idea to go to Hawaii for a holiday. When questioned about that one of his responses was “well I don’t hold a hose, do I”.

With respect to rain, fortunately the eastern states of Australia have had extensive rain in the past couple of weeks which has extinguished many of our fires. It will take many years to recover in particular with respect to the animals we have lost and in some cases they may never recover. It has been wonderful the support we have received from all over the world. There was a concert last week end to raise funds (around $10 million) that include Queen and Adam Lambert who reprised their entire 1985 Live Aid set. In my state of Western Australia we have another 4-6 weeks of our bushfire season in the south-west before we can expect any meaningful rain.

I think everybody was shocked at the extent of the devastation you have suffered I hope you don’t go through a similar disaster again.I remember Morrison going on holiday,it just shows how in touch he is with the people to pull a stunt like that.

I don’t think we have seen the end of eu exit from other countries. For the record I don’t care, but I do read up on it and if anything euro skeptics is rising after this. Unless Germany comes to the rescue of Italy I think there’s a chance they could leave next. And after the Greece bailout a lot of Germans aren’t interested.

They did an internal poll their just recently and it was literally 50/50 on voters wanting to stay and leave.
