So the justification is either

  1. If you ask someone to do something wrong but they don’t do it, you haven’t done anything wrong just by asking.
  2. The president shouldn’t be expected to know right and wrong. His aides can decide for him.

Oh, it does. IF true, he should not have even brought it up, at least not like that. Good to use on the next campaign. Not good to rush off and add the 20th item to the list of imagined impeachable events.
Since it never went anywhere, youre are not going far with this one.

TIL that if the President asks a cabinet member to do something that is completely illegal and they refuse to do the crime then the President did nothing wrong.
