I graduated from college. It prepared me for nothing.

The real world did and does every day.

What the bystanders did or didnt do has ā– ā– ā– ā–  all to do with what the officers did or didnt do.

Of course it does.

They filmed it. They did nothing.

No. No it doesn’t. What bystanders failed to do says nothing about what fellow officers failed to do.

Of course it does. Phone warriors. They could have saved his life. Instead, they wanted views and likes.

Not false. They’ve been through training, they’ve been around. This was their first time on the beat.

I notice that you have, conspicuously, failed to address that they were trained contra Chauvin’s methods.

Do we have separate laws for police?

I happened upon a fight like that once, but not a buddy. I walked around a corner and this guy was beating the KRAP out of someone. I watched for a couple of seconds and said ā€œdude, your going to kill him!ā€ and I think it was obvious I was about to intervene… Then the guy told me the bastard pulled a straight razor on him. I said what the ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  and walked away.

No. What bystanders did or didnt do says something about bystanders. It doesn’t say anything about the officers.

As far as I am concerned the bystanders contributed to his death. I’d like to see them charged.

This isnt a thread about bystanders and their culpability legal or otherwise. Beyond that, I keep telling you but you somehow keep missing my explicit point. I’m not addressing the legalities.

Police have duties.

It certainly does. They should be charged. They did nothing.

So do civilians.

Is failure to do your duty illegal? I think they skate unless they can show they personally contributed to his death.

Police are civilians. I have no duties to the state. Police duties come hand in hand with authority.

We’ll see.

after completing time in the academy, trainees go through a 6 month FOT training regime which they must pass before they are removed from probationary status. these guys were less than a week into it. The vitriolic bitterness and hatred you’ve displayed in this thread clearly shows clouded judgement. Step back, rethink. There are two responsible experienced officers on the scene who should pay the full price, and two green wet behind the ears trainees who should be let go.

I’m not even sure I would fire em. I would reevaluate them first. Who knows they may be better cops.

Mistakes happen…it’s what you do afterwards that count.

Why were those who filmed Floyd not held to the same as the person who filmed the Arbery?
