British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has left the Intensive Care Unit at a hospital in London Thursday; with a government spokesperson saying he is in “recovery” during his two-week long battle with the Coronavirus.

“The Prime Minister has been moved this evening from intensive care back to the ward, where he will receive close monitoring during the early phase of his recovery,” the spokesman said. “He is in extremely good spirits.”

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s condition was “improving” Wednesday at an Intensive Care Unit in London while his country suffered its deadliest day yet from the global Coronavirus pandemic.

“Prime Minister Boris Johnson is ‘improving’ after two nights in intensive care with coronavirus, Chancellor Rishi Sunak has said. Mr Johnson was now sitting up in bed and ‘engaging positively’ with the clinical team at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, the chancellor added. It comes as a record 938 daily deaths were reported in UK hospitals,” reports the BBC.

“The prime minister is not only my colleague and my boss but also my friend and my thoughts are with him and his family,” he said.

“Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital,” said a spokesperson from the Prime Minister’s office.
