It nearly ended two of my friend’s friendship. They literally came to blows over a game of Madden 12.
Me? I hate Madden with a passion. The only sports sim I like is 2K and I’m trash at the actual gameplay so I only play casual association mode simulations.
Yup, it was reportedly one of the competitors who lost. Shot himself after.
There will be a much bigger than usual push to blame this one on gaming.
And unfortunately this cretin gave them legitimate ammunition this time.
I’m sure they will scour his game collection, discover that he likes Doom or something like it, and conclude that video games turn everyone into psychopaths.
And ignore the fact that he took a gun to a videogame tournament.
It’s ended a dozen relationships I can think of off top, five or six friendships and broke up a musical group I grew up with when they were right on the verge of making the big time, like Billbord charting, TRL on MTV big time. I stopped playing six or seven years ago.

I dunno if it works anymore, when a majority of the population under the age of forty plays video games at least every once in awhile.
An effort will doubtless be made.
But yeah, if they couldn’t get meaningless legislation passed in the 90’s it’s probably safe now.
