Well in Ireland charging stations are everywhere in public and private businesses.
The supermarket public roads, hotels bars etc.
They are just another service provided by businesses as an extra to their customers.

You do know the difference in size between our two countries, right?

One of the big differences between the US and the UK is if they try that nation wide mandate here Americans would tell them to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.

I will never buy EV myself.

I do have one daughter and a son in law who have hybrids.

That would be the smarter play if one wanted to go that route than total EV’s.

They have Prius’s however which limits my leg and elbow room.

That’s 150,000 people in the county not charging stations.

We never got the hot version here but I’ve always wanted one of those hot German spec DOHC models from the 80s. Cool little cars.

Our Escorts sucked since we only got OHV or SOHC engines in ours.

For people who drive evs they are replacing gas stations and some of that funding is ultimately provided by the eu.
Even without public stations most private places have them.
I guess if they become popular enough the US will do the same so long journeys are possible.

The point is, your assertion was wrong. The private location charging stations are funded by the taxpayers, not by the private businesses that provide them.

What the world needs is a $10-20,000 EV with a 300+ mile range. City drivers would snatch them up.

…that would be a used 2021 Chevrolet Bolt with less than 30k on it and the range is around 240. Come see me and I’ll leave the light on for ya.

When the battery runs out, can you just use gas until you’re good and ready to recharge the battery? I wouldn’t mind that. I am not at all familiar with plug in hybrids.

No exactly not, what do you think brexit was about if not the people deciding their destiny.

And noone is mandating jack, there are ev charging stations everywhere for anyone who needs them. That’s it, judging by the few who use them they are a small part of the population. The government don’t tell us what to drive and would be laughed off the stage if they tried.
What the future holds depends if people want to buy ev’s or a gradual transition or a hybrid of both. Same as anywhere else on the planet.
