And if the electorate has discontent they will elect those they perceive best placed to eliminate that.

Lots of discontent with Trump which is why Biden won.

Reality isn’t their friend unless they are considering powering all of those electric grids by coal which they are not.

They are pushing their population for something that the technology isn’t there yet. I am the first to admit that batteries have came a long way it wasn’t long ago and electric car would go only 60 miles now they are going 300+ it wasn’t the government that innovated this it was private companies.

If they would stay out of it and let it happen the transition would come anyways. It’s just not there yet obviously if Germany had to fire up their coal plants and the EU had to spend close to a trillion on energy loss from the war.

You do understand the difference between libs and me don’t you?

WAS some manufactured discontent with Trump policies.

We will see and THAT is why EV greenery gets mocked.

Trump really was right with his campaign rhetoric. Biden has blood on his hands and is in over his head now.

Perfect timing by the EU as the coal kicks back in thanks to Putin…as Trump warned them.

Your betters. You will know them because they will be the ones who don’t have to adhere to their own edicts.

Meh- what do you think self-driving cars are for? So that we can kick back and play mario brothers instead of hating a mindless commute.

Go to your job or the grocery store, but do something else while you’re getting there- just like riding a bus. Keep a car for traipsing out to the woods to hunt but let go of needing one for the day to day if you live in an urban area.

Way to miss the point.

What point?

That governmental interference shapes our lives?

Thats been true for a long time. They pick winners and losers with tax codes, incentives, legislation etc. We live in an ICE oil based reality in large part due to governmental interference. Our sense of ā€œfreedomā€ is based on systems and rules created by others.

In many ways, the EV and driverless cars represent an ability to plug into more options, more ā€œfreedomā€ instead of being beholden to one technology and fuel system.

Yep. He believes that our tax system for calculating income is totally to have the government control the market and, believing that, sees it as justification for giving the government more control of the market. One might think that the conclusion would be to give the government less control instead of more.
It’s all part of the left philosophy: If the government provides free libraries, why can’t they control every part of our lives?

The government already has had control. You fought against this idea by pretending we live in a free market. We don’t. If you really want the Government out of our lives, you would argue for systematic repeal of incentives, subsidies and tax breaks for all industries but especially the ones that reap the most rewards- Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Ag, etc.

(Don’t get me started on Big Ag…)

I oppose subsidies for oil companies when identified. I know of none for large oil companies. Identify it and if I conclude it is a subsidy, I will oppose it.

The GOP has long been the party that has supported ā€œwelfareā€ for corporations but I acknowledge that the modern Democratic party has joined that feeding trough to take money from lobbyists for in kind legislation.

Before getting on a high horse of governmental interference, we should dismantle this system of picking winners and losers based on who can pay the most for campaign donations.

Ok. Still waiting.

And your betters will decide what you are allowed to do while not adhering to those same edicts.

Already done.

That’s what I thought.

Exactly….I just spent an hour and a half driving…

At the risk of getting off the thread topic I was thinking….

Conversation after conversation whether on this forum or elsewhere seem to be going the same direction….

ā€œYou will live, drive, eat, use approved pronouns, recognize 57 genders, power your homes and vehicles, in the manner we the elites deem appropriate. And you the plebes will enjoy it.ā€

You wanna know in America how much Joe Biden and his surrogates really care about the ā€œforgotten manā€ and the climate….watch their next to nothing approach to that ecological disaster going on in Ohio right now. Pothole Pete are you out there?

There’s an old saying about actions speaking louder than words…ask the people living in that community how environmentally conscious lefties are?

The point is simple…this thread is about the EU banning cars that run on gas….we have big government high tax left wing states (that are losing population by the way) announcing the same decisions. I simply pray that the American people are getting closer and closer to saying ā€œenoughā€.

You wanna drive a Tesla…cool I would never tell you you can’t. Someday I might join you. But why is it (get ready some lib is about to post about persecution porn), why is it that lefties refuse to recognize that I don’t choose to acknowledge kooky pronouns that I like my steak and my car that is paid off and I love burning gas is just fine.

They create problems and then insist we live with their solutions….over and over again.

Still with the subsidy nonsense, as I posted earlier, government makes more from oil than oil companies do.

And that isn’t counting all the things the oil industry makes possible that they also derive revenue from.

Welcome aboard…

And I’m still waiting on what they would do with by-products from processing that goes on with refineries.
