So if the vig is 10% then his gross revenues were $100M.
That comes from all casinos combined. Right?
40 casinos in LV alone means $2.25 m per casino per year. Is that a lot?
Unless, of course, your name’s Donald Trump. Then it’s off to bankruptcy court for you…
That’s your story and you are sticking with it?
In sports betting, poker, pool, and a few other games you gamble vs. the other players not gamble vs. house.
The house takes a cut (like 10%) off the top so
if you are as good as them you lose.
if you are 5% better you lose.
if you are 10% better you breal even.
and so on.
You can do well vs your office mates and poorly against the real thing so caution is advised.
I do some of the fantasy sports (football, basketball, baseball) against some relatives and aquaintances but just for fun. No money.
My dad was good vs the office pool. lol
gtg ten chars
Was he? That’s good. I’ve done very well against the family and friends in the football and basketball fantasy leagues but they eat me alive in baseball.
Next, we need to make betting on politics become popular as well.
I’m serious.
People who bet on sports, know…I mean really KNOW their sports, the players stats, etc…etc…
Just think if we did the same with political offices. People would do their homework, become knowledgeable of the issues, and there would be more participation.
$50 on Trump losing next election!
My Bookie is going to be very sad…
I keep seeing how this is a victory for federalism. You guys buying that?
He wasn’t sad on election night when you became a millionaire over night?
I just now finished reading the whole decision in Murphy v NCAA.
The Opinion of the Court by Alito.
The Thomas concurrence.
The Breyer concurrence/dissent.
The Ginsburg dissent.
The court was actually unanimous in thinking the challenged provision of the statute was unconstitutional as “commandeering” the State Legislatures.
So what was the hubbub about???
The Opinion of the Court struck down all the of the statute, declaring it to be non-sever-able.
The Thomas concurrence suggested that the Supreme Court needs to revisit its sever-ability precedents down the road. He clearly was uncomfortable with jettisoning the entire statute.
Breyer was even more uncomfortable, going so far as to refuse to join a portion of the Opinion of the Court.
Ginsburg put it in the strongest terms, refusing to join the Opinion of the Court at all due to the overreach by the majority.
Having read the full thing, I think the Supreme Court overreached. They were clearly correct to overturn the challenged provisions, which were clearly unconstitutional. But I believe they should have left the remainder of the statute intact.
I can see why Ginsburg dissented entirely, even though she supports on principle the striking down of the challenged position.
I personally would have struck down the challenged provision only and left the remainder of the statute intact.
That’s very interesting. Going to read it tomorrow
The average poker is bad; really, really bad. That said, if you’re playing small stakes with a fixed house drop (i.e. not a percentage of the pot), it can be impossible for even the best player to win in the long run.
That makes sense.
It’s the anti-commandeering part of the constitution. 10th amendment issues. That was the winner yesterday. The 10th amendment remains in play.

Right safiel. Jersey only challenged one part of paspa not the entire law.
They threw the baby out with the bath water.
