We didn’t pay “the Japanese” for it, we paid Americans whom the gov’t had wronged by every measure of law and most of it went to those still living who had been wronged with a small amount going to the children of those who no longer were.

That was also paid largely by the generation who had committed the offenses.

Slavery ended 144 years ago and the last living slave died sixty years ago.

I am forcing you, as much as you are forcing me. What you described is just not feasible.

I believe most people are good, and want to do the right thing. But, I also know, there are enough bad actors out there, that mechanisms need to be put in place to protect society overall.

There will always be people who need society to help them, for a variety of reasons.
If society is not stable and safe, that puts some people in a potential bad place, literally, and figuratively.

Your vision, as you explained it, did not appear to address that.
